I wouldn't doubt they count more but definitely not the only thing that counts. Seen too many people not rank up doing the same one and get a price reduction and I've gotten a price reduction after the finishing a quest.

If I recall it's been theorized and discarded early because of how some people (myself included I think?) managed to get a lot of discounts with like.. what? I think I had only 9 different assignments done at the time.
My idea is still that there are 2 conditions to receive the reduction.
You "gain" the reduction by fulfilling condition 1, but this reduction gets applied only if you also fulfill condition 2.
While if you only fulfill 2 you won't see it either because you didn't "gain" your reduction with condition 1.
Condition 1 could possibly be the ~50 Imprimaturs which we've been seeing mentioned by a lot of people (possibly imprimaturs used for rank-up purposes, since it seems those spammed on Contributor coalitions don't seem to matter?)
Condition 2 could be something about Coalition Rank and Fame... but it can't be just this clearly, there has to be something else. Probably a combination of factors. A result that you can achieve in several ways, and that would explain why people got to the same point from different paths.
Also, supposing would it be completely insane for them to use an internal hidden "counter/tracker"?
Like tracking certain things and assigning a certain amount of points to each of that, and then sum up all these points and use this as a requirement for reductions?
Like let's say for Reduction #3 you need "25 points".
Contributor rank in a coalition: 5 points
Disciple rank in a coalition 3: points
Fame rank 3: 5 points
...
This way to reach the minimum threshold of 25 you would have different ways, no?
Altough this seems a bit too complicated for something they pulled off last minute a secondary thing of a minipatch, not like the had meant the reduction system to be in from day one.
For something that has likely been thought and implemented in a very short amount of time, it seems unlikely to me they want as far as to created such a complicated system.
Has anybody tried checking the JP wiki about the reduction? Maybe they have some hints we missed.
85k now.
Current coalition standings -
Rank 4 - Courier, Scout
Rank 3 - Inventors
Rank 2 - Pioneers
9 total rank ups, 263 primps used.
Haven't checked the NPC within 10 some tags used, since I usually just check before/after a coalition rank-up. Scout was upgraded awhile ago, and about to rank 3 Pioneer before I checked here.
[EDIT] Corrected a couple wrong countin'.
I'm still at 90k:
Courier : 20
Pioneer : 40
Peacekeer: 58
Mummers : N6 K6 V6
Scouts : 80
Quests I havent done:
A Geothermal Expedition
Orobon Appetit
Don't Ever Leaf Me
Keep Your Bloomers On, Erisa
Raptor Rapture
Exotic Delicacies
A Shot in the Dark
No Laughing Matter
Checked today after update. Can get the first 3 Naakul KI for 25k now. New ones are 50k.
Was @ 75k KI before update
It took 27 imps to rank up from Inventor Contributor to Inventor Partner. Went 3 imps at a time since I thought it was gonna take until 30 exactly but I checked anyways just in case. Leads me to believe that it's probably 25 so I'll try and verify that on Peacekeepers in a few if I still have enough.
I posted this in the discussion thread already but figured it would also be good to post in here since it could possibly be a factor in lowering the KI cost.

Yumcax:
??? found at E-9. Area is fairly small, but there's enough room at the entrance to fight it w/o aggro.
Special:
The thrust melee attack with its front roots that have a star animation is magic damage.
The melee swing with the stun animation is physical damage.
One of these attacks has add effect evasion down.
TP moves:
Uproot: Magic damage, hate reset on target. Gains 30/tic dia aura after using this.
Root of the Problem: Magic damage(?) and all stats down that cannot be erased or sacrificed.
Potted Plant: Extreme magic damage(did 1800 to Ochain PLD with shell V up), slow and bind.
Canopierce: Extreme AoE damage(did 3400 damage to RDM that got too close and 1200-1800 to Aegis PLD) and choke effect.
Firefly Fandango: AoE damage, para and flash.
Tiiimbeeer(lol): Only used this under 25% for us. AoE 10 countdown doom effect. This is the flowery move that was in one of SE's official SS of the NM.
Drops:
Majority of us got Pahtli Cape and an additional JSE cape. Only one person got Buremte Gloves, Buremte Hat, Ocachi Gorget. Zero weapons that anyone spoke up about.
Guessing you did this at sub-5% Col. Rate?
Yeah, we used COR method with 0% col. rate the whole fight. Took maybe 3 hours, but we had a slow start until a few CORs were able to join up and speed it up mid-fight.
ahhhh....... wish I knew about this a week ago >.> Thank you for the clarification!
Hurkan is a little bitch.
Most normal attacks seem to be magic damage, with an added effect of a new status effect called Avoidance, which prevents all Blocking, Guarding, Parrying etc.
Evasion builds goooooo
(except that he almost certainly uses the TP-move swings, which means that the first hit of his swings gets a substantial Acc boost. Evasion builds boooo)
So RUN tanks with magian MDB swords? lol
