E3 has been a letdown and a joke for awhile. I hope E3 loses popularity and PAX ends up being the bigger game event to show off games/hardware.

I'm looking forward to E3 for once actually.

The real next-gen consoles should be interesting.

I wasn't crying about Nintendo, even though your comment wasn't directed at me. I was laughing lol.

It has entertainment value whether it be for seriousness or laughter. You are either enjoying it or laughing at them. Win-win.

I think Dole probably changed it, its to do with his trip to Japan and not knowing how to change his name on his gamecard.

Update: Nintendo of America's senior director of corporate communications, Charlie Scibetta, has clarified to IGN that two events will be held on Tuesday morning at E3 (the day when Nintendo's press conference traditionally takes place) in addition to multiple Nintendo Direct presentations leading up to the show.

Scibetta's full statement is as follows:

"As you've already seen, a lot of news about Nintendo games and services that traditionally would be held until E3 is being delivered this year through Nintendo Directs, and various press events. This approach will continue between now and E3. No matter where you are in the world, you'll be fully informed. We look forward to continuing to provide you with Nintendo news and content in ways you haven't before experienced. Beyond the news that will be communicated through Nintendo Direct videos in the run up to E3, at the show itself we're hosting two smaller events on Tuesday morning before the LACC opens instead of just our traditional one event. A media event and a partner presentation will both occur that morning. While the audiences will be different between the two events, both will occur on the Tuesday morning of E3 (June 11) which is the date and time period the public has come to expect for Nintendo to deliver E3 news.

At the Nokia theater we'll meet with business partners (retailers, publishers, analysts, etc.) from the NOA territory and discuss our plans for driving the business and providing tailored information that this group finds useful to their operations. Nintendo has done these same type of business meetings at past E3 shows, but has not in the past few years. This year we are returning to that business partner meeting format. New this year at our booth in the LACC, prior to the show opening, we'll invite a small group of media to play our games. We will have a strong line-up of beloved franchise experiences available for immediate hands-on play. We are continuing to consider exciting new ways to bring the news of our games and information directly to the players at home during the E3 timeframe, and will have more to say about that at a later date."

SF4 Arcade card requires Japanese cell phone and email address to enter your name. If you don't have one, it defaults to "NO NAME".

Honestly with both Sony and Microsoft having new hardware, skipping the conference portion of E3 makes sense. Since they have no hardware, people are going to just want to see the games which will be out on the floor, and it's Nintendo, people will stop and look. Let Sony and MS have their day in the sun and blow huge loads of cash.

Honestly, I haven't followed E3 in years. When I was at EA from 99-02 I went, but it did go downhill quickly after that.

Nintendo has already had a few open conferences this year showing exactly what is coming for WiiU and 3DS this year and everything shown off has been pretty well received. The option to skip out on the big conference imho is a good one since E3's demo has never been the biggest Nintendo fans. Most of the time Microsoft and Sony over shadow nintendo at E3 even if they have nothing to say.

I dunno.. ever since Kinect, I don't think Microsoft's E3 presentations have overshadowed anyone.. If I'm not mistaken, Microsoft consistently has gotten the worst grade for their E3 presentations the past few years (here, other gaming sites, etc). I do agree with Melena though it does make sense given what Microsoft and Sony will be showcasing with the new systems.

Smart move actually. Going to be hard to go against the PS4/720, especially when your latest console is barely catching up to your competition's predecessors. Nintendo is pretty much running on nostalgia these days. Not sure if they have something up their sleeve to compete w/this new gen, or if they feel it's even worth it. Either way, I still love Nintendo. Part of me wishes they would just go Sega's route and become a software company. Mario/Zelda on PS4, please

....and a Metroid that doesn't suck, too!

I've been hoping that would happen to Nintendo for a while now, but their handhelds are still doing well (I think?) so I'm not sure that will happen anytime soon. As pointless as I think the Wii U is, I'll still maybe buy it for their first party games whenever they decide to release them and I assume I'm not the only one that thinks this way. =/ After Skyward Sword though, I'm not sure.

Yeah, once Nintendo releases some good 1st party games for the WiiU, I expect sales to pick up. I think they've said there's a new Mario in the works (which I'm expecting to see at E3), a new Smash, and a new Zelda (although I'm not expecting to see that). I really want the Metroid franchise to go back to the Metroid Prime style of games. Stopping that was such a stupid decision -- didn't help that Other M is downright terrible either..
