It's because Braff has presented himself as a flaming bag of dogshit and a generally terrible human being at every opportunity. I'd place this kickstarter in line with Uwe Boll begging for 20 million to make another Doom travesty.
I'm going to need some solid links to see where Zach Braff is a douche, because aside from the somewhat iffy Punk'd scene(and if a kid of spray painting cars, you can't argue the kid should get the shit scared out of him by a pissed off person, it might prevent him from being a repeat offender), I'm not seeing it anywhere.
Though I am on the side that says Zach Braff shouldn't be using kickstarter for this stuff.
I'm gonna have to go with, Who Gives a Shit. If people think paying a bit extra to see a movie they want made, who cares. I'm not gonna give him any money, but why should I give a shit what other people do?
And yeah, only thing Ive heard of him being a douche about was on Punkd where they fucked up his car. Anyone would be a douche in that situation lol.
The fact that he bought that car makes him a douche
watch any interview with him, he is awful
It's not about him making the movie or anything that people are pissed, it's about the way he went about it. He has all the connections to make this movie happen, hell the last one made profit so any studio would sign on for a new movie hands down. Kickstarter is meant for people who can't just call up someone in the business and say "Hey lets go get lunch and talk about a multimillion dollar project!". It reminds me of the very wealthy people who dress up like homeless dregs and beg for cash outside of convention centers in Baltimore.
Except he's not pretending to be homeless. Everyone knows he is a millionaire. If they want to waste their money on it, why should anyone else give a shit?
Cause people like to point out douche moves. It's a douche move.
I get that, but idk, I guess I consider pointing out douche moves and actually getting mad about this different lol.
I'm pretty sure people saying they won't give a dude money on a forum isn't being mad. Maybe I'm wrong.
Then lets all be mad together.
I would venture to say some people who donated actually thought that the movie wouldn't get made otherwise (we're talking about people on the internet and who like Zach Braff), since that's kind of how Kickstarter works, people put shit up there to start something they couldn't otherwise do, Braff sure as shit can get the funding for the movie he just went this way. While my metaphor was kind of off I guess, its somewhat the same, he's using a "poor person" avenue of getting funding even though he's a "rich guy" lol.
Leave our poor funding pots alone! That money could have went to more skullgirl characters or been better spent on Firefly episodes O:
Rich people using kickstarter to fund their projects because they don't want to risk any of their own money and invest in their own project is just stupid. I wouldn't fund anything like that. Ideally kickstarter as stated earlier in the thread should be for cool projects from unknown people who can't get funding by traditional means.
Pretty sure the people who kickstart games like Wasteland 2, Double Fine Adventure, Project Eternity and Torment: Tides of Numenera are all millionaires.
I don't like the use of Kickstarter for this, but I wouldn't mind having a personal scrubs voicemail.
I can see his point of it being one of the only ways to make the movie his way, without hollywood happening to it or any interference. I mean, I watched a lot of Entourage. But one of the other only ways to make it his way is to use his own money. Maybe he doesn't have 2mil or whatever size check he would need at hand, but he has friends. He can keep hollywood out and still not abuse kickstarter. It goes beyond the use of Kickstarter too, it corrupts it. Kickstarter is going to be stained and go in an entire new direction. It's purpose is for the little guy and it should remain for the little guy. This is whats making hard even harder for people out there.
