By the nature the award is supposed to be given out, its the most valuable player to the team.

Tavares and Ovie definitely need to be on that list, because the Caps and Islanders are shit tier without them.

I agree, going by this standard, the Pens were just fine without Crosby, so he shouldn't get it. I see why he is on the list though, taking nothing away from the season he had, but he clearly wasn't the reason the Pens finished where they did. Can't make that argument about Ovie or Tavares.

Nope. The team(management included) love Fleury too much to part ways with him. He's here until his contract expires. After that, who knows.

I honestly think Tavares should get it. He has as many goals as the second and third place scorers on his team combined, he plays similar minutes to Ovi, and he wins 49.4% of the face offs he takes (Ovi doesn't do faceoffs).

I don't really think it's fair to say that Crosby took a quarter of the season off; he shattered his jaw. By comparison, Tavares is a -2, Ovi is a +2, and Crosby is a +26 with 41 assists ("only" 15 goals). But his team is much better, so I wouldn't call him the most valuable player this season. The better nomination, I think, would have been Bobrovski, because he nearly carried his team into the playoffs himself. If Lupul had played more, he might've played himself into the picture too.

Tavares should win it, but no one likes the Islanders, so Ovetchkin will take it.

Also, why does NHL.com have Moulson listed as 100% in faceoffs? That can't be right.

Edit: Oh, it's because he only took one faceoff attempt, and he won it. lol

Moulson is a winger, so he would only take faceoffs when his center got tossed out, and even then most times the right winger might be the one who takes it instead. Small sample size, he probably took like 5-10 all year and just managed to win them all.
