You can tell which teams and series are popular by how many new pages are added to this thread during a game. LA/SJ added 1 page between when I left for work before the game started, and when I just got home now lol

hawks/wings game 3 got like 5 posts yesterday, but you cant tell me those teams arent popular here lol.
That's what happens when games are either really early or "Fuck that shit" pacific time.
It sorta sucks when players in all sports (not just hockey) get overlooked for whatever awards/recognition because they play out west, so nobody hears about whatever they did till the next day if at all.
you cant say any west coast players get overlooked for anything cause they play in PST

points leaders
13 of 20 are BEASTERN conference, and if you go by next years alignments, it'll be 14 (2 from detroit, 1 from winnipeg). Those 7 include Kane Hall Datsyuk Getzlaf Toews Zetterburg HSedin...none of which are anything but household names to anyone who remotely follows the NHL.

Goal leaders
FOUR of top 20 are from western conference (Carter Kane Toews Couture), can add in Wheeler and Ladd going by next years conferences. Once again, all 4 are names anyone who follows the NHL in some fashion will know of.
Just meant that sports franchises playing out west where the games finish at say midnight or 1am for eastern people, get overlooked.
"Hey, did ya see that 5 goal output by Pavel Bure last night?"
"Nah man, I watched the Islanders lose and went to bed at 10:30 while the Vancouver game was still in the first."
type thing.
Same thing happens in baseball. Randomly a west coast pitcher will get like 16 strikeouts in a game, or throw a complete game shutout, but nobody knows about it til the next day sometime.
can anyone explain to someone who has paid pretty much no attention whatsoever to hockey since the epicness that was nhl94 on genesis... why did they get rid of the thingy that made it easier to see the puck?
did it just really bother the "purists" that are actually able to see it well without?
also wtf teemu selanne is still alive? >.>
Oh god that's funny and poor girl
USA just blowing the third.
And they hold on for the Bronze. Good game.
As much as I hate Detroit I'm firmly in their corner this round. The Hawks are the only team that genuinely makes me pause when it comes to matching up against the Pens. If they lose before the Cup finals there is nobody left in the West that worries me.
Pens getting NYR coming off another 7 game physical series would be a glorious ECF matchup for us.
