Typically because they have to learn more rather than just get by on raw talent. I recall seeing many guys who played under Wayne Gretzky get quoted as saying that his problem as a coach was not understanding that not everybody was Wayne Gretzky.

Toews has looked a lot better since he's gotten away from Zetterberg.

It always reminds me how good Z is when he is able to shut down guys like Toews, Crosby, etc during a series. His defensive game is underrated, he also seems to be good at getting under their skin, either with his play or small things that he does like the kidnapping of Toews.
