I just honestly think the Hawks are the better team. The Bruins played an injury riddled Rangers team and an inept Pens team. The only healthy team that they played they had vast amounts of trouble with.


Also the Hawks are my west coast team.

And even being in Boston I should instead be a closet...I dunno...Sabr-wait I can't say that with a straight face...A closet Flyers fan just to avoid getting lumped in with the Massholes?

As it currently stands, both players are expected to hit the free agent waters without new contracts, multiple sources relayed to TFP, and it's unclear if they'll be able to come to terms on new deals with the Devils after that point.

Clarkson, 29, is in the final year of a three-year, $8 million deal. It's believed he'll command well over $5 million, per year, on his next deal.

Elias, a life-time member of the Devils, is wrapping up a seven-year, $42 million contract. The 37-year-old could also see his next deal bring in an annual salary in the $5 million to $6 million range.

Both Clarkson and Elias have expressed their interests in staying in New Jersey, but questions surrounding the club's financial stability could prevent them from returning.

In early January, Jeff Vanderbeek secured full ownership of the franchise, but remains in significant debt.

TFP first reported on Aug. 16, 2012, that Vanderbeek was in talks with Calgary billionaire Bill Gallacher, who owns the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL, about purchasing the team, and sources have told TFP that those conversations are still ongoing.

I'm writing this godawful research paper and I'm finding the HACKEY thread (and BG in general) to be too much of a distraction.

I'm trying to figure out who gives a 37 year old .5-.7 p/per game player "5-6 mil" under the upcoming new cap. That article vastly overstates what they'll probably get. Clarkson could get 5-low 5, but definitely not "well over" 5. I suspect he'll go for 5 flat and Elias isn't even in the ballpark.
