just think about that BG History.... one of the core members I bickered with for several years has since been gone 2+ years already. Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time forum.
I can't remember what season i started to post in this thread. I think it was 09-10
I don't think Toronto has any intention of making Bernier their starter. We needed a capable back-up, and Scrivens is far from consistent. LA seems to have great goaltending coaches so we'll see how he turns out. I personally don't see the Leafs losing much by giving up Frattin; we're thin up the middle, but drowning in 3rd/4th line wingers. Would've preferred to move Bozak instead of Frattin though.
The Leafs are allegedly going to be pretty busy next week. It'll be interesting to see if anyone makes a play for Phaneuf, or if Toronto can drum up the 1st line centre or top four defenseman we so desperately need.
Habs buying out Kaberle is hilarious.
I know this isn't really hockey related and I know I've posted enough about the Saddledome, but there isn't really any other thread I feel like posting this in. Calgary had to evacuate around 100,000 people during the floods. Only about 1,500 people had to go to shelters, everyone else had family, friends, strangers, neighbours take them in. The downtown core was evacuated, but there was no looting, no stealing, nothing, just a few long lineups at grocery stores. And not only has there been a great showing of people volunteering to help, there actually has been TOO many people offering to help that they had to send people home, lol.
The mayor went roughly 48 hours straight doing everything he could in his power to make sure everything was as safe and smooth as possible. There was actually a trend on twitter, "Nap4Nenshi", that starting getting popular and it was all people trying to convince him to go home and take a break, lol. Which is great, he's working his ass off to make the city safe, and at the same time, you have mayors in Toronto and Montreal wrapped up in so many controversies. Makes one proud
I know I'm in a different city in a different province, but watching my home go through something like that, and then just seeing the community response, it makes me incredibly proud.
And 2 hours ago I had some arabic fat fuck in walmart bitched at me at the rush checkout lines for "cutting infront of her". Two cashes opened up at once, I went to one, she went to the other...something happened and the customer didnt leave their cash. The employee at my cash had enough time to ring up my items, take my money, and as he's giving me my change shes like "hey I was in front of you, why did you cut infront of me you asshole" INFRONT HF HER TWO KIDS. It took her that long to notice I had "cut" infront of her, dumb broad. Not everyone here is in a "hey we just survived a flood" mood.
Welp, I'm not saying everyone is happy >_>. But a lot of people are. And some assholes will just always be assholes
C'mon, the '06 '07 era drama was way better. I stuck around BG for the paltry baseball threads, but it's just too much work to keep up with sports in general when there's a 13 hour time difference ㅠㅠ
PS -> Game 6 bandwagon is loading up. I sure hope David Stern is helping the NHL, because we need that game 7 action.
what the hell? it's GAME DAY.
Let's talk about that!
Lord Stanley's Cup will be in the building
I purchased some new white gloves for the occasion
Pretty much this. Keeping cheap 3rd/4th line guys is very important because it leaves cap space for re-signing the bigger ticket players (phaneuf/kessel). Nonis is just showing very poor asset management. I think that's what really worries Leafs fans in general. He could possibly be an improvement over Scrivens, but is hardly proven. And will eat way more cap space.
So far since the Leafs have been eliminated, they've lost a solid 3rd line winger, lost a 2nd round pick, 500k in cap space, and (maybe) upgraded the BACKUP goalie, and re-signed a 6min a night player who has zero skills that are required to play hockey (and routinely was benched in the AHL). At least Holmgren's stupidity is amusing. This is just pathetic and sad.
