It's pretty much confirmed that MacKinnon will go #1 to Colorado. What do you guys think?

Honestly... if I was a team in the top 3, I'd definitely pick up Aleksander Barkov. The dude was a beast against adults in the Finnish League and he is a big boy. He'll be the next best Finn since Selanne and Koivu.

I think they fucked up royally by letting it out that they wanted him, if they kept that bottled they could have easily unloaded the #1 for a good asset to one of the other top 3 since the other two are likely not completely retarded and want Seth Jones.

Yeah, I agree to unless they are playing some serious mind games. In the end it should have been kept a secret. I think he'll be a good fit in Colorado tho.

And yeah... Seth Jones is going to be an absolute beast for years to come on the back end. Tough for Colorado to pass up on MacKinnon though for a Dman with the 1st overall pick. Drouin is good to but he's kind of small... he'll be like a Claude Giroux. I'd take Barkov 3rd and maybe Drouin 4th and Nurse/Nikushkin/Monahan 5th.

Draft day is probably my favourite day in hockey other than my favourite team winning the cup so I'm sooo pumped. I'll be watching it all!

Also later this week I'll be making a 1st round mock draft. Hopefully I'm accurate haha!

I think they're making a mistake on both the pick and how they're handling it, unless they're trying to troll and want someone to trade up for MacKinnon so they can take Jones.

As for Russians, Nikushkin (?) and Zykov are good choices. Zykov has been playing in North America and I believe would be less of a risk. Nikushkin plans to play in NA this coming season tho so maybe he won't be like Filatov.

yeah, wishful thinking, would rather he just did what's best for himself, but it sucks that he finally realized the potential that we wanted him to just in time to go UFA, but had he not taken the sweetheart deal last time around this whole cup run might not have happened

Anyone catch Roenick on the DP Show this morning? He was in the elevator on the way to the Bruin's locker room to interview them when the hawks scored both goals. I'm guessing he told the story on air last night but I didn't get to see any of the NBCSports/NHL Network coverage after. Pretty crazy for someone to miss that especially someone who loves the game/teams as much as he does.
