I think I just said what the big deal was.... the gain is tiny compared to other stuff. And there was pretty much none in the skirmish department as well

But let's put it this way. Gun + ammo has always beaten non ranged stuff in base dmg. Now it doesn't. While still having shit for att speed. Gun and bow have usually been pretty close but now bow can have 249 and 63. So like bow wins by 20% now and less delay granted not as good ws. Pre soa gun beat bow by 8%

When you put it that way it does make sense. I still can't imagine how ridiculous Barrage with a 260 DMG ranged is gonna be...

Not as good as with 312 lol. I might just have to become a bow ranger for a little bit. That said not entirely sure new gun would overall be better than relic on average sadly. I mean it's 14% more base dmg and 1 more ratt/racc on the hq (though being T0 with ingredients that expensive...). But no ODD stuff. Though the rng updates otherwise help us actually use the new bullets more hopefully.

Seriously though that bow is hot. And I've been laughing at bow rngs since 2004 lol

I won't tell them since I gave up on mine long time ago, but it's not like you get a head Abj the moment you walk into Legion.
Drop rate is like 5% if I recall? And you need a linkshell, you need to kill stuff, you need the abj to drop, you need to win lot. Consider that Legion doesn't happen every day and you get an idea of what I meant.
Sure, Hairpin takes a lot of time but you can get it almost afk or soloing whenever you want, there are no "pre-requisites".

As much as getting hairpin can be frustrating I'd say it's kinda easier to obtain for an average (i.e. majority) player than the Legion head abj.
(granted that I haven't tried Legion after the nerf since no LS on Asura want me in Q_Q so I have no clue how really easier it became compared to the past)

We still don't know where things are going in the future, but this patch perfectly follows the "pattern" of the adoulin launch one.
If things just keep going this way we're soon gonna be in a situation where an average DDs have to choose between:

    1) One of the new high damage weapons (crafted, skirmish, delve, even more in the future maybe)
    2) An incomplete 95R/90E that's gonna take even more dedication than in the past to be "completed" at 99 (less people doing VW/ADL, prices rising, interest going down etc)

And this is assuming R/E/M will really get patched (but how, since they said they won't bump up their base damage?)
This whole situation puts under the spotlight even more the fact that the current Merit WS cap is particularly bad and that the new % system is not a compromise good enough.
Basically if you don't have a lv 99 R/E/M and you already have 3 merit WS, you're gonna get fucked because you won't have means to get a decent WS for that 4th job.
This could have been bearable 5 years ago when only a bunch of people had multiple good geared jobs, but in 2013? In the post-abyssea era where the majority of people have a plethora of jobs at 99? In the era where Matsui himself said it's unthinkable to aim content for people with a single lv99 job?

Seen under this light the 15 upgrades limit for the Merit WS category seems even more stupid than before to me. If they really want to put a limit there forcing people to "make choices" then they should allow a higher degree of freedom, and I don't think the new % is enough to achieve that.

It almost seems to me like the % and the high D weapons weren't so much an attempt to make more choices as to make everyone make the choice to merit every weapon they are going to use. Since mostly only ws tied to the weapons beat the merit ones and those weapons being killed

Explain the almost afk technique please, because well over 30 hours of constant attention getting lights right and whisker burning without a pin needs to know

Do it on another job. Capping your azure is going to cripple your gold chest rate

Having someone farm that for you, then send you a tell if they get a hairpin so you can get back in front of the screen and get it from the chest.
Had several friends who obtained Hairpins this way in my old LS (when I still had one).
Not saying this is efficient, but it's possible. If you got no friends but got a lot of money you can pay merc people to do this for you.
Altough I guess the same could be said for legion, paying a LS to let you join their run and then lot the head abj? I assume this is possible as well.

To get back to the start I didn't mean to say that this change to NQ gear is unwelcome, I'm glad they did this change.
I was just replying to some people who seemed to be overly excited when from my point of view, while of course this is a good change, it doesn't really seems such a big one as to get THAT excited about it. If anything it's a very minor thing that will make NQ less of a loss for crafters, offer a couple of new sidegrade/options and that's it.

I don't get what you mean dasva.

Cleaving for hairpin sucks, not enough mobs, mobs spread. I farmed my hairpins with MNK/WAR+ BRD/WHM killing mobs one by one. 1 tonberry dies in <10 second. Caping gold takes 10mn with the garuda mobs, then a bit for perle, and it gives you 1h30 ish of 80% gold boxes.

Each of the 5 hairpin I farmed took less than 6 hours (3 sessions).

SE didn't like my Batsignal Photoshop of Balance and deleted the Thread

got like 25 Likes too before they did it. Didn't even defame anyone too...harmless joke...OF admins are pricks...

Got a E-Mail about it, Apparently my Forum access was banned, and based on my stellar history with Admins/GM's in general...My accounts been banned for 72 hours...

In retaliation, I canceled the billing just in time(due in 2 days) and I'm now on break/quit until SE gets this game turned around so I know where to focus, Wild/Skirmish got killed out the door with Delve, next month something kills Delve I bet. I'd prefer a progression season system like 4.5 month system that WoW has... Not a 1 month Final Warcraft XI on Speed.

    Back to TOR it is...

    They sited me on:

Posting aimed to create a negative impact on the community or its members.
Posting content with the intention of criticizing either Square Enix staff or specific individuals.

and said my prior history on my account which was 1 warning at a Behemoth camp from 2008, and 45 days ago calling the "Fat Cats in $249.99 Executive Chairs" in charge "Idiots" on the Official Forums in a post.

Either way, I was being cheeky at most, they were being dicks. I've seen far worse on the Official Forums stand the test of time to even now.

EDIT: Got Kicked from my Alt account, LM-11, guess they found the billing was related. But an 11? isn't that review for termination? Did I really piss someone off? Rage of Tanaka?

Unless you did more than you admitted in this thread to make SE employees appear like total dicks, which is still a possibility, then they definitely over-reacted, as far as I can say.

I have no secret agenda on this matter. I'll call out the elephant in the room when it's needed. So yes, I've been a potential thorn in their side on the OF for a while, it was all in how I worded things that let me get away with it. Lately I haven't been feeling particularly suave in my choice of words, so when they saw the chance it appears they came down with a retribution to the level of Salvage from yesteryear. I don't have the E-mail saved from last year but when I posted my Log Logger XI spoof of the FFXI logo I did get some all Japanese e-mail from someplace in Kyoto i recall. Google translate could only get some of it right, but as far as I could tell, someone wanted to talk to me about the image. I'd assume it was a lawyer, but my host never received a complaint about it. It was entirely hand crafted, down to my poorly Google translation of Logger of Logs XI in the Kanji on the bottom right. See Spoiler for reference.

    Spoiler: show

I seriously tho thought of putting this up on cafepress at one point tho.

Kinda funny, one of the worst things about MMOs is that their official forums often become hugboxes, but this is the first time I've actually seen that attitude being encouraged by the devs themselves (they don't allow people who arn't subscribed to throw in their opinions, and now they're banning people for criticizing them/making jokes. ok se)

Ya! I know right? Most of the player base are geeks, and we have problems with authority, they should have expected us.

The way they define their rules they're actually well within their right to temp-ban almost every single person around here that posts there, so basically the only thing that determines if you get banned or not is if a GM is in a bad mood.
