Except this isn't how you should be doing it, you stun animations which makes everything pieste does easily stunnable except delta thrust which is 50/50.
I don't even get why people use mist as a focal point for all these stun debates, pieste takes ~5mins even if it does get a few mists off.
If you think peiste takes 5 minutes with a few mists, then you're heavily overestimating the majority of the playerbase's DDs, even with post patch weapons.
Great so I guess this thread is over then. It's just gonna be page after page of dorks with no ego chest thumping? I guess there isn't much more info to discuss until new Delve.
My post was not stating how you should or shouldn't be doing it, I was responding directly to Byrth's earlier post implying that it could be specifically stunned reliably which is only true if you are using some type of add-ons, and a player casually reading this thread should be made aware of that.
Additionally, I tried to submit some new information to this thread at some point, but it seemed that people would rather discuss why their job is more difficult than someone else's. I'd rather not clean house on this thread, so if we can end that discussion, it would be great.
Meanwhile, here's that information again:
https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Dakuwaqa
Perhaps it got buried in the load of trash and I never saw it, but the new piece of information was that there was a sound theory from the JP wiki to Dakuwaqa's (and also Muyingwa's) varying damage resistances/susceptibilities as their HP decreases. It looks like each of them, similar to Tojil, has its resistances and susceptibilities change each 25% HP (the reduction in damage on Muyingwa is a separate reduction that happens to everything except ranged attacks on top of the other resistances and susceptibilities). At any rate, for Dakuwaqa, the theory is:
100% - 75% HP: Resistant to blunt damage, susceptible to piercing damage
74% - 50% HP: Resistant to piercing damage, susceptible to blunt damage
49% - 25% HP: Resistant to magic damage, susceptible to slashing damage
<25% HP: Resistant to slashing damage, susceptible to magic damage
I can personally confirm that magic is consistently unresisted and hits for full damage (and possibly more) when Dakuwaqa is below 25% HP. We also know from experience that he is highly resistant to blunt for the first 25%, which is why groups with several monks typically use Formless to get through that part faster. The other two parts I'm not positive about, but maybe people have some idea or can use logs to confirm/reject the theory?
I'll post what the JP wiki says about Muyingwa in a second, need to go translate it again.
Here was their theory on Muyingwa:
100% - 75% HP: Resistant to piercing damage, susceptible to blunt damage
74% - 50% HP: Resistant to magic damage, susceptible to slashing damage
49% - 25% HP: Resistant to slashing damage, susceptible to magic damage
<25% HP: Resistant to blunt damage, susceptible to piercing damage
Obviously on top of all this is the fact that he becomes very resistant to all kinds of damage except ranged attacks as the fight goes on. Again, this is just a theory as posted on the JP wiki, don't take it as fact.
Two scholars starting with 5 books stunning TP moves every 10 seconds will be out of stratagems and stuns in about 2.5 minutes. The majority of the time (and especially below 25%), he's using TP moves faster than that. For a fight that goes on 3 minutes or more, those scholars are going to be out of stratagems, and will have to skip stunning some TP moves, at which point you're relying on luck as far as which TP moves are selected when Stun is ready to go. Especially considering the update, three minutes is more than reasonable to consistently kill this guy, but I can see pick-up groups having trouble. Like I said above, though, 3 minutes is certainly being generous as far as how long your books will last - he's typically way more spammy than waiting 10 seconds between moves.
We put a bard in the mage party, which brings stun recast down to 7~8 seconds without Alacrity. They'll never use TP moves faster than once every 4 seconds (though they can do magic -> TP faster than 4 seconds, so you can't stun magic).
Or if you don't want the hassle of swapping brd in, you can just use an embrava before pulling pieste if its giving you trouble. Its not as if your sch will have time to do it mid way through tojil assuming you want to use an embrava before pulling tojil.
There is no reason not to be stunning animation on pieste, especially when your own arguement is that mist is too fast to stun from log.
We don't swap a bard in. We just bring a bard to Dakuwaqa in the 6th slot of the mage party. It sac pulls the boss and sings double marches for scholars and ballads for GEOs. We actually do this for every boss, iirc. We might still bring a PLD to Tojil when we do it just out of force of habit, but it's less useful than a bard.
All the people on here saying easy mode need to get over yourselves. Some people work odd hours and can't go with the 1-2 LS with 2x 4 song brds. Other people need a chance to get stuff. You still need to know the fights so it's not like aby where you just have all buffs on hax mode.
MP efficiency really. I am assuming the WHM knows how to gear for Enmity -, and I've seen no issues from WHM's using III and IV on these fights. But if the DD are having dmg issues and the Stuns are being missed, the mage would switch to V. Which is why I phrased it "if you are hitting 5, something is seriously going wrong."
Curaga 4 also has reduced enmity.
af3 legs also helps mitigate higher mp costs
