Got Tojil down to 62%, anyone else tried? Either the gear check is too hard on us or we missing something important, there is room to improve is our setup/gear/strategy, but I don't see it being big enough atm to do 62%.

Changed set-up and tried Tojil again. Definite behaviour/stance change at ~75%. Starts using Blistering Roar and taking more damage. Weapon Bash 100-75% is 11 Damage. Weapon Bash below 75% is 23 Damage. It's possible that it could be gimmicky and they want you to use magic damage for first 25% or something. We didn't have any magic damage to check.
When it gets its extra evasion from using the shell move, it is really fucking evasive. Accuracy is the single biggest issue to damage output. We're talking 40-55% accuracy for fully buffed melees (in Hybrid) on the parse which is skewed upwards from the times he isn't extremely evasive. Accuracy isn't completely floored though because Rangers had way higher acc (65-83%). Hybrid gear was not fully necessary so it might be the way to go is to have melees pile on full acc gear to see if you can overcome its evasion.
If you position it in the tunnel so the PLD has it facing a wall and the melees are on its side, Lahar will knock the melees back out of range meaning they won't die by taking a hit with weakness on. You obviously need the PLD to hold hate for this though.
It has ~1.3m HP for the record. Discussed a bit with Ccl after his post, I think with some tweaks we can drop that 62% figure significantly (Took 23 mins). We had Angon/Steps for first try and were way quicker with damage (70% in 10-12 mins) so that made a large difference. We also wasted ~8 mins between the NM's and pulling Tojil. Plus whilst we knew melee acc was bad, we didn't realise it was 40-55% bad.
Our next attempt should be interesting anyway. I don't expect we'll kill it but I certainly think getting it to the 20-30% range is feasible which should give us a far better idea on behavior changes.
Have any brds out there noticed a big difference between using large amounts of macc/chr/skill gear on landing elegy/finale (stuff like Kurma where its important). I just want to know if its worth investing in a decent set or not.
Took on Kurma for the first time today using my bard alternate char. (Geared respectably + ghorn) I maybe landed 5 finale's between two fights and 0 elegy's that I noticed. I had Aurorastorm + Klimaform on me and at one point x2 chr songs (i think it was at least +117 chr).. wasn't cutting it.
If you miscount TP moves it'll reset and you'll fuck yourself. If you do enough of the wrong damage type, you'll reset it too. Just bring a couple BLMs/SCHs/whatever and nuke it down until TP move #7, then have your SAMs walk in and instant-gib it with weaponskills. Definitely works inside; that's where we did all ours.
Edit: Is Kurma immune to Dispel or something? Is there a specific reason people are only using Finale, and not trying Dark Shot/Dispel/BLU dispels?
Any way to reasonably farm plasm solo/dualbox? With work the way it is i'm lucky if i can do 2 delve runs a day every other day. And looking at all the gear i'll need and the shitload of airlixirs it's gonna take to make them all respectable... I kinda miss abyssea seals/coins
If you were going down that route you'd probably be better entering Delve and trying to pick off NQ's. I can't imagine Shard drop rate being higher than 50% and mob difficulty probably isn't much different. Not going to be quick either way though.
Yeah but those entrance rocks cost money.
EDIT: actually some of them are pretty cheap .... hmmm.
I think the argument is, you're either wasting/spending money to enter delve or wasting/spending money to eat shards.
Well, the outside pop farming method has the advantage of being able to do it while AFK or doing other things if automation is your kind of thing.
I'm honestly quite demoralized by Delve in general. So far only gotten one kill, which is Supernal Chapuli. Tried Mastop, Kurma, Volatile Matamata, all with shout groups and so far no progress whatsoever. It's getting quite discouraging. I agree, shout groups, etc.
We were doing Kurma with a skillchain/magic burst approach, but apparently half the BLMs don't know how to magic burst, and people gave up early (also took us forever to reach her inside the fracture).
Volatile Matamata we tried lowering with nukes, but apparently gimp JP BLM robots can't understand that they're meant to stop nuking, plus melees with silly ideas.
Mastop damage was horrible, even with it being Dia'd full-time.
I don't know if we're not "getting" the gimmicks (obviously), but so far with shouts, it's proven to be painstackingly slow and a chore. I don't see how I'll be getting this cleared without a proper linkshell.
If you're nuking it first it might be different somehow, but when we did it using melee damage first and 0 nuking until TP move 7, we were seeing regular TP moves every ~50-55 seconds regardless of how many DDs were on it and a resistance reset after TP move 8. This included a run where we didn't switch modes after move 7 and without any nuking or magic damage our physical damage went from 0/hit to what we were seeing when it was freshly popped once we saw it readying move 8. It's certainly possible that nuking it first changes the behavior but I haven't been out to test that.
We were getting the TP moves every 50-60 seconds yes, but the damage for us had reset on TP move 7. It seems had we gone on 6 it would have been fine. The basis of your strategy is sound, but it is NOT a static number of tp moves. The only time we actually killed it was eyeballing the damage and not counting TP moves.
Edit: Checked my logs of a JP trying to explain it last night:
[22:11:49](Piko) Matamata do WS 1 minite interval, then Physical damage is greater than magic damage, physical damage is doubled
[22:11:53](Piko) after the WS
[22:12:31](Piko) Physial damage will be 32 times and repeat
[22:19:53](Piko) only magic damage until WS 5 times
