Hate wasn't actually all that bad. I only lost hate on 1 pop between 5-6th ws, because I was spamming cure4 instead of cure5. I had sch used animus-augeo for the rest of the pops, and I just kept hate with provoke/boost and occasionally other JA like warcry/perfect counter (dunno if it gives that much hate, but had to try).

As for nukes pulling hate, it was never a problem for me. They were aiming to do constant low-damage nukes, not the big numbers. For example, if they do stone III doing ~100 or something, I tell them it was overkill that early into the pop, so they switch to stone II for lower damage.

I don't see nukers pulling damage unless they are just being silly. Plus there is the conservation of MP as well since you need to almost constantly nuke for at least 55x7 seconds, so they must gauge themselves to do enough damage per MP used.

Well, that's what my group did anyways. Worked 6 out of 7 pops with that 1 pop being a dud as I described above.

Not the post I quoted. You didn't say rdm till after that. And that still doesn't rule out divine or dark or ws necessarily. And if you weren't trying to be such an antagonistic asshole in every post maybe we could figure out what exactly you did differently to shave a tp move off of what others got. Maybe it's not simple x number of tp moves and we can figure out what. I mean isn't that the entire point of this thread and strat sharing.

This probably won't have any bearing on Eanae's group, but I was in Arthars' group trying (and failing) magic -> physical on Volatile Matamata. First attempt, no one counted properly, but I just double-checked the logs and it reset after the eighth WS. Second attempt, no magic damage was actually dealt between the 6th and 7th WSs, so it reset before we went in on it after the 7th WS. Then we switched to the MNK strat.

I'm only getting angry because every post up until the last two pages was essentially calling us idiots. Now that people are actually open to the idea there may be a second factor we'll be able to actually confirm something.

Maybe they were but I was asking for more info. Part of the idiots might have been the anger too. Hard to take that seriously. I fully believe a lot of the gimmicks are more complicated then originally found. In fact looking up seems some people have hit upon something about consistently doing non 0 dmgs a lot in between so might have something to do with it. Maybe more than 1 nuker? Maybe hate spells from pld had an effect?

Not sure what secondary factor could have been causing it, but after every single 7th TP move we were able to do capped dmg without fail over about two dozen matamatas. Was using my SCH mule to do the nukes and she never nuked over 100dmg due to nuking in idle gear, did IIs until they did 0 (around TP move 5), then III (to 6), then had to jump to Vs until 7 at which point we hopped on with SAM+DRK and killed it in about 20s. Whether or not there's more factors I can't say, but my experience lines up perfectly with other testimonials in this thread over a fairly large amount of NMs.

Worth noting that just because you're hitting 99,999 does not mean you capped the damage multiplier. The final multiplier is, theoretically, 128x. The one before that is 64x. Your weapon skill only has to be dealing a normal 1563 or more damage to cap at 99,999 with the 64x multiplier. The more accurate confirmation is that every single magical attack (or physical attack, depending on which way you're doing it) hits for 0. If even one hits for 1, then it's not capped.

It could be as simple as there being a minimum amount of damage that needs to be dealt. We were using a rdm so perhaps their spells weren't enough damage by the 5th-6th ws.

The damage reduction is likely performed early in the magic damage calculation, likely before any other multipliers, which would cause zeroes on lower tier nukes because of flooring, especially on a half resist or something.

Every single one, including Ebuillence nukes in her actual nuking gear, were doing 0. I've done enough testing in my time to ensure that every variable was covered.

In any case, I usually only nuked once or twice per "phase" and its DT still progressed to the next "phase" on each TP move. Damage done doesn't seem to be relevant as long as the magic damage done is greater than physical damage done for that phase.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, I also think it's consistently capped after the 7th TP move, as you stated above. This was in response to others assuming that the multiplier was capped just because they were seeing 99,999s after 6 TP moves or whatever.

In other news, I think the monster does have weird TP move behavior, so maybe it's possible for a TP move to be skipped under one condition or another, but the damage reduction/increase to continue as it would if a TP move was used. Something time-based might be more consistent if the time between TP moves is exact, can anyone check to see in a log if there's an exact amount of time from one TP move to the next?

If there a compiled list about how to exploit the weaknesses of mobs yet? Below are what comes to my mind. Anyone have any other input / things I missed? Some fights are easy, but I'm sure EVERY fight has a weakness that you can use to make it easier.

    Morimar

    Volatile Matamata
-Use one damage type for 6ish TP moves then after the 7th TP move use the opposite for max damage. Zerg it down with the 1 minute between TP moves. (TP move count may vary, I typically do it when I hit for ONLY 0's MNK method.)

    Perdurable Raptor
-This fight is simple, but is there something to make it easier?

    Shimmering Tarichuk
-This fight is simple, but is there something to make it easier?

    Tutewehiwehi
    -Keep blind on it.

    Kurma
-Dispel harden shell / keep it silenced?

    Foret de Hennetiel

    Faded Craklaw
-I don't recall anything for this yet.

    Aberrant Uragnite
    -Never fought this

    Divagating Jagil
    -Never fought this

    Nerrivik
-break lanterns with crits to the face? Thinking like Dark Ixion

    Krabakarpo
-easy fight, but never found a weakness, just zerged.

    Ceizak Battlegrounds

    Unfettered Twitherym
    -Just zerged, no known weakness

    Supernal Chapuli
    -don't weapon skill it.

    Transcendent Scorpion
    -keep dot on it.

    Mastop
-keep as many dot's on it as you can so it keeps erasing them.

    Tax'et
-keep dot'ing it until it uses ~20 Exuviation then zerg.

    My current hypothesis is thus:

The NM has 7 levels of phases for both types of damage. These phases progress based on how much damage of each type is dealt on the previous phase, and the phase shifts after each TP move.

    So for example:

Jimmy uses Stone V for 300 damage during phase 1.
Uncle Tito uses Tachi: Malibu for 500 damage during phase 1.
When the Matamata uses its first TP move, it will shift into phase 2 and magic damage dealt will increase while physical damage dealt will decrease.

Jimmy uses Stone V for 500 damage during phase 2.
Uncle Tito uses Tachi: Testicles for 300 damage during phase 2.
When the Matamata uses its second TP move, it will shift into phase 3 and magic damage dealt will decrease while physical damage dealt will increase.

If only Jimmy deals damage, or manages to outdamage Uncle Tito on every phase, then the turtle will eventually progress to Phase 7, at which point his magic damage taken will drop to 0 while physical damage taken will be at its maximum possible multiplier. When it uses its 8th TP move, instead of moving into phase 8 it will just reset to phase 1.

From what I understand we're not the ones having problems with simple zergs with PUGs so assume we're somewhat competent enough to count the number of TP moves.
If you want a fool proof way to win just take 2 mnks. With 0 attack buffs the phase before its ready you will hit for 0-1, as soon as you enter this phase use JAs and get full songs up. Next phase you will hit for 0 every time, and 2 formless strikes will take it down in ~20 seconds.

This is for the TP move stuff. Maybe someone can notice a pattern. I cannot input on how the damage types were being handles in these cases.

    Spoiler: show

@Unfettered Twitherym - it definitely gains some very high DT-% (90-95) at 24% HP, and possible at some higher level like 49%. I have no idea what causes the DT to break, but it breaks all at once when it does.

@Jagil - It's gotta have some weakness which removes or greatly decreases the add effect, because it gets really stupid after like 3-4 minutes of fighting. Might be based on its current element, which is predictable as it rotates through a set pattern.

@Chapuli - You can still weapon skill a couple of times, I don't think anyone has totally figured this out yet. The evasion boost happens all at once after you weapon skill a few times, but as I reported earlier in the thread, one time we did it the evasion boost didn't appear until after at least 15 weapon skills. It might also be that you can't weapon skill below a certain HP or something like that.

There's probably a way to remove the evasion boost, or make it so that weaponskills don't give it said evasion boost.

I 3 boxed it and after 10th WS it gained a substantial evasion boost (far from floored though), I had been capped up until that point.

We tried once with a PLD holding and had it randomly reset back to normal. I didn't see anything odd happen in the log, except maybe the PLD didn't hit it enough / enough damage wasn't dealt to make it count as physical damage to lower its magic resistance so it reset.
