Boeing 747 crash caught on video

7 people died in this tragedy (luckily it was a cargo plane). Opening a new thread for it because it literally shows what exactly happens when an airplane stalls, you see the word "stall" everywhere but this is probably the only incident ever caught on tape involving a uncontrolled passenger jet stall during takeoff.

Its 747, these stuff aren't supposed to fall out of air like this..

0 knowledge of airplanes here, so do you mean based on where it is, the plane wasn't taking off naturally in comparison to a passenger jet? And I assume it was carrying more load than a normal passenger jet?

Yeah, it looks like this has caused the crash. They believe that the cargo wasn't secured properly, moved during steep takeoff, messed up the balance and caused a very early stall.

I was surprised the guy in the vehicle didn't say anything until the end when he said "Oh Fuck" lol.

But yeah, they do a fast climb so they don't get hit with RPGs or take SAF. They do the same thing when landing where they do a very tight spiral almost directly above the airfield and descend straight into the tarmac.

Edit: Also saw it was at Bagram, the mountains there also require a very fast ascent to get out.

Why are so many people afraid to fly now? This was a cargo plane doing a pretty extreme take-off maneuver. it was a classic slip stall too close to the ground to recover from.

I'd argue it's the safest time to fly. What are the chances of having two accidents back to back? BUT it was a cargo plane, so it would only apply to nonpassenger flights...

Highly doubt this was caused alone due to incline. I've seen unloaded 747's do shit once thought impossible at flight shows. Cargo weight/balance is definitely a factor here.

It's a hard feeling to describe, I had my main not open once and when I popped my reserve it didn't catch air. This was still in jump school too lol.

Just got home from work and saw this in the news, as well. Looks like the cargo being unsecure caused its center of gravity to shift really far aft, causing an extreme nose up attitude, and made it stall. Really shitty. People get paid to secure that shit, so someone clearly didn't do their job.

There has actually been 3-4 crashes in the last few months in Afghanistan, one of which was an F-16 from my old unit at Shaw AFB. Another being an MC-12.

Edit: And yeah, those mountains around Bagram probably didn't really help their situation.

Yeah that definitely sucks. I don't even wanna know how much weight that bird was carrying (even if it was within acceptable/safe limits).

One little bit of movement in the cargo with such weight is enough to turn the plane into a anchor.

It's loaded by civilians and checked by the loadmaster (who died) so yeah. 747 can handle 5 trucks.

That said, I was always glad we had our own C-17's.
