It was during the day, but I'm on the second floor and it was across the ditch; they were trespassing, smoking and drinking behind someone's house (not theirs). Arguing with each other being loud and shit. I was napping, but yea still

expecting your dog to help you in a fight is retarded, by the way. unless you've specifically trained it for that, its almost always going to just bark at people or not do anything. It might jump in and help, but expecting it is ridiculous, because it'll probably end up being put down. and even if you have trained it for that, it's still probably going to end up being forcibly euthanized because omg dingo ate mah baybeh laws.

I hope none of my dogs ever bite anyone. I'd rather they just bark, and stay alive.

Yeah, if a dog bites someone there is a good chance its going to get put down.

If they walk into my back yard, sure. Not like I brought the dog out there to go sic her on them, but fuck she better at least be willing to bark loud enough to scare them off

I don't know what to make of this, because we're talking about a situation in which the assailants would have entered the dogs territory, and assuming there was a fight, the assailants are now harming his/her master, and in my experience with my dogs, they are VERY loyal to their families/master.

I joked about my dog running away, but truth be told I don't think he would for a second, not in this situation. My dog has his "guard" up and is very cautious with people he doesn't know, until he see's that me, or someone else he knows has welcomed this person inside(ie a hand shake or something), and this has been my experience with all my family dogs to this point.

My dog is very much the same. Very wary and ready to protect/defend territory until one of the pack says it's ok or our body language says that the strange person is not a threat. She always keeps her distance but guards the door. I wonder sometimes if she would actually do anything if shit went down. This is the same dog that pisses all over if you give her attention when you walk in the door.

They're not doing all that well, from working in the security field in the area I can run a list of a bunch of people who have much longer rap sheets than they do.

Up here I've never heard or read about an incident where a dog was put down protecting his property or family, anythings possible though and I know laws regarding dogs and biting are becoming more and more strict.

I know myself, if an incident like this ever happened to me, my dog would be hidden until I was guaranteed he wouldn't be put down. I understand they would have to contain him after the incident to check for disease and what not, but I assure you they wouldn't contain him until my lawyer guatanteed his safety.
