I check out the SWTOR official forums a bit since I still play that game. Some of the responses to this are depressingly hilarious.

No words can describe the amount of pain, betrayal and anger I feel right now towards Lucasfilm for this.
One question: is it still canon? Because all my money I spend on EU is now worth NOTHING and I don't want to spend anything on something that is irrelevant to the whole Star Wars Universe. So is SWTOR canon or not? I don't want any speculation, I want statement. One simple question, I keep my sub on or I don't.
I spent my money for official continuation of Star Wars Saga. SWTOR was official backstory for Star Wars Saga and used a lot from the EU. Now, since they stated everything that was published before "A New Dawn" is non-canon, why should I bother? I want official statement about SWTOR because I don't want to play a game that is irrelevant.
Did lucas created the whole star wars universe?... i know he created the first movies and some history after i think... but the whole star wars universe before the whole skywalker legacy.. like the old republic.. did he created all that?

I'm impressed at the release schedule. The Marvel sequels every 2 Summers thing is annoying, not to mention the 2028 planned releases down the line

Zac Effron hints at being given a role
Fans of Star Wars are holding their collective breath for the expected (at this point, hoped for) announcement regarding the story, characters, or cast of Star Wars: Episode VII come May 4th. After previous rumors had claimed that both Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron had met with producers regarding a role, Efron has once again hinted that his involvement in the film could be much farther along than a simple audition.

Obviously, any and all news concerning Star Wars: Episode VII should be taken with a grain of salt, since just about every young star in Hollywood has had his (or her) name mentioned as one of the potential leads in J.J. Abrams’ beginning to a new Star Wars trilogy. It would seem that Abrams and his producers would need to get their cast in place, considering that Han and Luke are already arriving in London, presumably to reprise their roles in the coming weeks.

While making the rounds for his upcoming film Neighbors, Efron was asked in an interview with 5News if he would continue his rise from teen heart-throb to blockbuster star with a role in a galaxy far, far away. Although he had admitted to meetings in the past, Efron’s attempt to brush off the question is telling:

I don’t know. I have no idea on that. There’s irons in the fire, so to speak. I don’t like to talk about anything too early because, you know, it takes a while to get these things done right. Who knows?
In an age where blockbuster stars often outright lie about having a role in an anticipated film, Efron’s decision to offer more details is compelling. Since his earlier admission that he, like several other young actors, has met with Abrams about a role in Episode VII was followed by no official news, it was assumed that the film would go on without him. However, his comments imply that the situation is not yet settled. Besides leaving the door open for him to land a role, could this also imply that Abrams and co. haven’t ruled out any of the other frontrunners either?

Only time will tell, but for now, the only real certainty about Episode VII is that it will be set thirty years after Return of the Jedi. Fans of Star Wars‘ extended universe know that the prime candidates for a film trilogy set that far into the future would be none other than the children of Han Solo and Leia Organa Solo, and those of Luke Skywalker. But with the filmmakers stating they won’t be limited by the older “Expanded Universe” novels, all bets are off.

If we were to wager a guess, it seems most likely that Zac Efron would be in the running for a role as the son of Han and Leia, if he is indeed up for a starring role. Aside from the fact that Efron’s resume of both comedy and drama resonate nicely with both Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher’s roles, audiences wouldn’t hesitate in buying him as their son.

Where does that leave Friday Night Lights alum Jesse Plemons? For all we know, Plemons could be set to star as the (a?) son of Skywalker alongside the Solo children – assuming his being cast in Black Mass hasn’t forced him to withdraw, that is. Again, so little is known of the actual plot, or how much the film will stray from the novels, it’s next to impossible to make an educated guess. But according to Efron, his entry into the Star Wars universe may still be possible.

Hamill, Fisher, and Ford arrive in London
    Spoiler: show

With no official casting announcements for Star Wars: Episode VII thus far, rumor has it that a major update on director J.J. Abrams’ space adventure will be arriving on this year’s fast-approaching Star Wars Day, a.k.a. May 4th. Of course, if you’ve been following progress on Episode VII since the beginning, then you’ve known for a while now that at least three familiar faces will be in the film (not including R2-D2, C-PO and/or Chewbacca, though they’re coming back too).

It was over a year ago when Star Wars creator – and Episode VII creative consultant – George Lucas let slip that Star Wars: Episode IV-VI stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford had already entered the “final stages of negotiation” to join the Episode VII cast; since then, Fisher has indicated multiple times that she and her fellow original Star Wars trilogy costars are, indeed, reprising as the older versions of their respective characters (Luke, Leia, and Han) in Abrams’ film.

Sooner, rather than later, we expect that Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm will finally issue an official press release, confirming that fan-favorites Hamill, Fisher, and Ford are part of Episode VII – possibly, at the same time, also revealing which of the rumored newcomers will help to bring a younger generation of characters to life in Abrams’ movie.

Until then, enjoy these Tweets and images that show (or tease) that the aforementioned Star Wars veterans having made their way to London, where the bulk of principal photography on Episode VII is taking place. There’s nothing all that revelatory about them, though it’s worth noting that a slimmed-down Hamill appears to have grown some Obi-Wan Kenobi-style facial hair, in order to portray Luke Skywalker the seasoned Jedi Master properly.

Late last week, Lucasfilm announced in a press release that “all aspects of Star Wars storytelling moving forward will be connected” – be they movies, TV shows, videos games, and/or books – but that the only canon that Episode VII is beholden to are the six previous live-action films, as well as the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV show content co-developed by Lucas, rather than any previously-published work revolving around the Star Wars universe post-Return of the Jedi (the Thrawn Saga, Jedi Academy trilogy, etc.).

In other words: although the story for Episode VII may take some inspiration from elements of the Star Wars “Expanded Universe” of old, it doesn’t need to fit with what had transpired by the same point in time in the old Star Wars EU timeline. Rumor has it that Abrams and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) revised the original Episode VII script draft by Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3), so that the film may better highlight the experiences of older Luke, Leia, and Han – experiences that may be quite different than what many EU fans have been anticipating.

If that is the approach (as looks to be the case), then hopefully it’ll result in Abrams’ film serving as a smooth transitionary chapter, bringing moviegoers up to speed on events in the Star Wars universe – before moving onward, into what (fingers crossed) will be the long and creatively-rewarding future of this iconic franchise.

Oscar Isaac was good in Drive, that's the only thing I've seen him in. It's a really good sign they didn't cast any shit actors with big name recognition.
