Went into this movie expecting it to be like the Star Trek reboot movies - decent sci-fi action, but without any of the feeling of the original material. I have never been so happy to be wrong. I watched the despecialized version of the OT over the past week to prepare and Force Awakens gave me the same feeling watching those did.
There is finally a fourth true Star Wars movie.
T-minus 20 minutes!!!!
Unless they're doing stuff with the Plagueis/Bane story that contradict those for the new trilogy.
And one of my Finn wet dreams would be him finding an Old Republic-era trooper armor to run around in, letting him be a "good guy" in armor. Bonus if it's got a personal shield generator, at which point MMO fans would likely go nuclear fanboying.

Movie was fucking phenomenal. I was supposed to see it for the first time on Monday with some friends but had the evening off tonight and in the spur of the moment bought a ticket 25 minutes before showtime lol. Was sitting in the center of the 3rd row from the screen. No regrets, 100% worth it. Movie ended like 45 minutes ago and I just got home, my body is still feeling it.
Great homage to the original trilogy while bringing in it's own new elements. And fucking thank god for modern film making technology, the movie was gorgeous and shot so fantastically.
I liked it. I do also believe it was overhyped. When things escalated, they escalated too quickly and when it dragged it dragged hard. Not a perfect 5/7 but a 5/7 none the less considering I went with people that didn't watch/read any Star Wars culture and they were pleasantly entertained.
Was at lolHot Topic talking to one of the employees about the movie. He hadn't seen it yet, but heard about Snoke. I told him about the Plagueis theory, and he went in to all of this possible EU shit. The look on his face when I told him they pretty much scrapped the EU was priceless.
Just got home and so many thoughts , but yes a definite true classic and real Star Wars film. It got me in all the right ways.
I thought the movie was alright. There were some parts that just struck me as clumsy, but I think it's good enough to stand with the OT. And I think it's better than the slapstick-riddled prequels.
I'll be interested to see the next one. Lots of questions remain.
Just saw it. Liked it and thought it was a good, but could've been superb if the second half-ish would be more like the first. They played it too safe imho. That said, Rey is badass and I can't wait for the next one. This is a true Star Wars film.
I enjoyed the flick. Not as great imo as everyone keeps saying. Too many similarities to ANH. Will definitely go see it again.

Strongest I've felt about a Star Wars movie since ANH. Even had it spoiled for me. Story was a little predictable but still great. Had the right feel for the series that the prequels lacked.
This was pretty meh, half the theater I was in pulled out their phones halfway through.
