Nah not even close. Gone with the wind is like 1.7billion domestic adjusted for inflation. Avatar was 750mil lol.

Do rereleases even matter? If it made money, it made money. Maybe these studios need to wisen up and stop spending money on new films when they can rerelease older ones for even more $$$.

You realize releases barely earn a fraction of the amount right? Generally it just adds on to the total but it's nowhere close to making the money a new movie would.

When you're comparing something that was in theaters for a few months to something that was in theaters for like 8 years, yeah it matters a bit lol.

How does this movie get nominated for so few Oscars when its one of the highest grossing of all time? Then, of the very few it was actually nominated for, doesn't win any oscars....

Because it's actually not that good of a movie in the grand scheme of things? Entertaining yes, but outside of visual effects/audio stuff it's not doing anything all that impressive.

And before someone gets all butthurt, look at the kinds of movies that win Oscars and take the Star Wars blinders off. How many awards was Avengers nominated for, or any other big blockbuster movie?

Furious 7 is one of the highest grossing movies of all time, but who in their right mind would say it deserves any kind of award. Box office gross does not an award winning (or even good) movie make. Just look at the Transformers franchise.
