Yes and no. There is an uprising among the Clones, after which the genetic makeup of the Imperial Army is diversified, with more clone samples and "regular" people being let in. The "regular" people are, at first, usually just the absorbed armed forces of the Empire's members, but eventually open to people like Han and Biggs, both former Imperials. At some point the cloning technology is lost/sequestered, and the Imperial Army becomes entirely natural... but still exclusively Human, or at least close to Human, like the Chiss.
speaking of books, is the original EU canon now completely dead, or is it being rebranded as an alternate universe or something
^ I just have to say it, even if I'm the only one, but I've never been a big fan of of either of the droids, esp R2D2. At least C3P0 is hilarious with his bitchy lines sometimes. Never understood the whole bromance on R2 I guess /shrug
Tons of rationalization for that light saber already, when it seems pretty obvious that they thought it would be fkin rad to have a zweihander-style light saber, and all practicality be damned.
Am I the only one who sees it this way?
as i understand it, completely dead... but i remember hearing something along the lines of "we're aware of it and will try to please the fans", which likely means a lot of re-used and re-purposed characters. so we might very well see Thrawn, etc, but they probably won't be doing the same things.
edit: also, most of star wars's technology is that way just because it would be rad. everything magically levitates, because reasons.
Yeah trying to come up with real-world physics justifications for Star Wars stuff is a bad idea. The universe runs on the rule of cool.
Why speeders instead of wheeled dune buggies? Because flying cars are awesome.
Why four-legged walkers instead of tanks on a world with 100% snow coverage and obvious ice hazards? Because it's AWESOME.
Why have bottomless pits all over your space station and tentacle monsters in the garbage compactor? Say it with me, class: "BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME."
For the EU, just make Thrawn trilogy (or at least the basic idea of the events) canon and they can do whatever the fuck else they want.

For the record, that is Andy Serkis you hear in the trailer. I was able to verify this, although I was not able to uncover any further information about the role he plays. Here's what I do know, though. He's playing a pivotal role in the film, although he will not have a lot of screen time.
I am all for the lightsaber claymore!
Hmm....lightsaber keyblade in the next KH?

I don't know why I laughed
I don't know either
Midichlorians = trying to come up with a "sciency" way to 'splain the Force. The Force was better when it was just a mysterious space-magic energy field.
"...an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together." = awesome.
"Herpaderp immaculate conception midichlorian Anakin space-Jesus." = awful.
