Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens

However, I'm still burned by Episode 1, but I was pleasantly surprised with the Star Trek reboot, so if this comes anywhere close to that, they can have all my money.

That's fair. When I see people say it looks "fan-made" I assume it to mean of lower quality/production value. Low budget, in other words.

Lets see if I can do a basic summary without being too spoilery. The trailer helped to confirm some of the leaked story details and the leaked concept art.

The actors in the teaser;

Andy Serkis - The narrator and who is thought to be the main villain of the series (the man behind the curtain or the new "emperor")
John Boyega - An Imperial soldier (Stormtrooper) who has a life-altering event and begins to question everything he knows
Daisy Ridley - A scrap scavenger whose path of life changes when she meets John Boyega
Adam Driver - The dark figure on the ice planet with the Highlander Lightsaber
Let's throw the droid in this - Probably a faithful companion of Daisy Ridley

Timeline of the scenes shown;

All of the Tatooine scenes are from the first part of the film (including the Stormtrooper drop ship), New X-Wings (they're slimmer compared to OT) over the body of water is the middle, Sith on the ice planet is at the end.

Now lets be spoilery (not all of this may turn out to be true, but I have a good feeling a lot of it is)

The civil war didn't end with the death of the Emperor and Vader. It is still an ongoing conflict. Luke did go into "hiding" shortly after the battle at Endor. The Sith Inquisitors (as seen in Rebels) are still hunting Jedi.

The current theory is that John's character had crash landed a tie fighter on Tatooine during a battle above (on?) the planet (which honestly makes no sense as he's not wearing the correct gear). While wandering the desert, Daisy comes upon him while searching for scrap. She nurses him back to health and in turn he helps her out. One day they find a lightsaber and take it to Daisy's boss/master, Max von Sydow (a cyborg who is thought to be an undercover Inquisitor), to gather information on it. Some point after that they come across Han & Chewy (who have since gone their separate ways with the Republic) who recognize the lightsaber to be Luke's. The Imperials catch wind of Han & Chewy's emergence and begin to hunt them. With Daisy & John in tow, they flee Tatooine in search of information on how to find Luke.
Upon finding Luke they discover that he has gone crazy from the events that took place during the OT. When Luke sees that Daisy & John have the potential to become Jedi, his mind eases and he begins to prepare them for their training. He also tells them a story about the Inquisitors and how they came to be (cue Vader flashback). Eventually John's former commanding officer, Gwendoline Christie, discovers them and reveals that she has an connection to the force (although it's very much the dark side). Something something battle, Lupita Nyong’o, who is an active Inquisitor, shows up and joins in.
The final battle of the film takes place on an ice planet with a powerful Sith.

A lot of that sounds very Star Wars Legacy comic to me. The Solo version not the Skywalker version.

I'm standing behind loving the trailer. I hate it when teasers and later trailers give away the entire movie. Make the trailer similar with a few shots of the OT cast and a vague idea of the plot, I'm sold.

I think if they would recut the trailer without the black stormtrooper suddenly popping up in frame first thing, it would be a lot better. IMO, not a good idea to start it with something that looks like a parody.

I'm literally 50% hopeful that the movie will be amazing, and 50% expecting something terrible. I don't think I have ever felt so evenly split on a movie. Anyone have any conjecture on the plot? I think its safe to say JJ Abrams doesn't give a warm fart about the EU.
