    A lot of the rumors about Luke so far is that shortly after Endor he just up and left. Didn't try rebuilding the Jedi or anything and just disappeared into exile leaving everyone behind. Seemed like a weird idea for me and not something that Luke would do without good reason.

    I hope what actually happened is that he did attempt to train someone in the first step of rebuilding the order and failed miserably forcing him to stop whoever it was. From there he could have been forced to kill the apprentice or in the hopes of redeeming him lets him go only for him to disappear and join up with the knights of Ren. Could even be Kylo Ren himself depending on how the age lines up and it would help to explain how he knew where to find the remains of Vader's helmet. Luke could then look at himself and realize the danger involved in training new Jedi and decides it would be best if he just disappear from the galaxy rather than risk creating another Vader/Palpatine.
