Yeah, LoTR, batman, godfather,, anything by scorsese, and just about any movie that was guaranteed to be a blockbuster because it's a popular sequal with tons of financing and an awesome director would be "unreasonably long" because the director had "free reign" over how to cut the movie at the end.

idk, the 135min runtime on STAR WARS in 2015 just gave me the wrong vibe, curious if anyone's heard of people complaining about post production stuff

Compare it to something comparable like the other Star Wars movies. It's longer than all three from the original trilogy and a minute shorter than Phantom Menace which benefits from a 20 minute podrace scene, 5 minutes shorter than RotS, and 7 minutes shorter than AotC. Also the longest movie JJ has directed.

I actually felt more comfortable comparing it to other well established and successful sci-fi/fantasy trilogies in the 21st century (batman, lotr) than looking at the original trilogy or at the george lucas solo trilogy with respect to how runtimes of even the big sci-fi/fantasy movies are trending up and up

Let alone, in general, movies getting longer and longer when a well established director takes the reigns

Not saying 135 can't be good... it's just that with the star wars name backing the film I had expected more and 135 gave me reason to worry about director vs producer disputes and a bunch of people here are much more likely to have come across that info. I wouldn't even know where to look for those videos 6souls posted
