I'd actually PAY MONEY for an nhl game on pc, but it would probably be riddled with micro transactions for roster updates and team uniforms.
I'd pay extra for an update to 3-on-3 Arcade lol
They're setting themselves up to be in the position Activision has been settled in for a while now. Stable releases that sell every year that always put out without risking anything whatsoever. Basically, they'll keep raking in cash from their MMO, release a new shooter every year, and now they'll have Star Wars games of some genre enter that pattern along side their Maxis games and whatever they have Bioware making. I'm guessing if Dragon Age 3 fails too they'll probably cancel that series as well. It's like watching the drunk ramblings of an evil dictator with this company.
EA handles their studios the same way Darth Vader handles his "failed" generals. I find this amusingly ironic.
So they ruined the game and are now pulling the plug. Nice.
lolEA
Maybe childhood nostalgia but I recall in the 90s being excited for new EA games. I was really bummed out when they stopped making baseball titles(mlb 2k for xbox is hot garbage). The last basketball title I purchased was live 09 and felt that was severely lacking because of their own laziness. No surprise they dumped that too. I love Madden, but 12 was so bad I probably won't purchase another awhile and just keep playing 10.
It seems as if companies are just setting the bar too high and when the suits don't sell what they think they should've they pull the plug. Unfortunate for the people putting in the hard work.
It wasn't just childhood nostalgia, though they weren't completely milking their franchises for all they're worth, gobbling up smaller companies only to shatter them (at least in public), nickel-and-diming the consumer at every turn, ending up in the news due to employee complaints of shitty conditions and horrible hours and otherwise being assholes.
Personally, I feel that they need a bit of humble pie ala. Chevy. A company that felt that its far more valuable to the planet than it actually was, that got blasted down to earth and is now actually doing things the right way - for now.
At this point EA has kind of moved into the whole too big to fail range. I don't have a problem with them deciding not to publish for handhelds if that is what they plan on doing. My main problem is the cash grab games they keep churning out. It would be different if they bought smaller studios and let them run autonomously. But as it stands EA has their foots firmly planted on the necks of their studios.
EA is no more than an asset management company. Buy up small companies, chop them up, dump them when they've turned to complete shit due to their own doing. Just that instead of printers and toner, they sell vidya games.
Those sons of bitches!
I guess I should stop holding my breath for a Mirror's Edge game for real this time?
If i was a smaller company and EA wanted to buy me up. I'd laugh in their face regardless of how much money they wanted to give me. EA treats their employees like absolute shit and you won't last long there
You'd shut that filthy mouth of yours the minute they place a small piece of paper with twenty 0's trailing behind a 1 with a comma. Companies like EA probably don't take no for an answer. Integrity isn't a thing anymore, it's all about the most money. You're lying to yourself if you believe otherwise. There are only but a handfull still left on the planet that operate within a free market that still believe in what they supposedly stood for way back when.
