Regarding the second topic, my wife and I were talking about that and she disagrees, although her being from the philippines and that not being so in your face over there may have something to do with it. We both believe people are not honest with themselves regarding their appearance so they make up excuses as to why it's either too hard to lose weight, exercise, etc. I'm not ignorant enough to say every single person is like this, but it's my belief more people than not tell themselves it's ok to be overweight so they don't feel ashamed of how they've let themselves go.
They don't have to tell themselves it's ok. Take it from a fat person, the average fat person gives literally 0 fucks about their weight (this is for the actually fat people, not people who are just "overweight"). People who are overweight and sad about it are just at the beginning of depression over their weight. As they continue to spiral into full-blown fatfat, the depression numbs their feelings, so they literally stop caring. They are incapable of caring.

Here's a good link to describe what that's like, if you've never had an episode of major depression. http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.co...-part-two.html

Look for real. Fatties make things so much more difficult than it is. I'm 6'3" and at my highest(freshman year of college) I fucking ballooned up to 270 pounds. So understand what I'm talking about actually worked for me. I now weigh 200 pounds and have weighed this for roughly the last 5 years. You guys cry about your body image issues and that you feel awful when you go to the gym. You feel out of place. How are you going to feel when you need to have quadruple bypass after your fourth Whopper? Cry about how bad you feel and how depressed you are? You are directly fucking responsible for how you look. And the sad thing is just setting out to "lose weight" doesn't work. Here's why.

Unless you have a specific target weight in mind you will jerk yourself off at any weight loss you manage to attain. By setting a goal weight you can give yourself a small pat on the back if you've lost a few pounds. But you still are focused on the amount of weight you have left to lose. Never set a goal of just "losing weight." Ever. You will already be setting yourself up for failure. Here's what I did to lose 70 pounds over the course of a few years.

    1. Set my target weight for 200 pounds. Nothing more, nothing less.

    2. By far the biggest. COUNT YOUR FUCKING CALORIES. It's so simple, yet so many fatties don't even try to do this.

    3. Get over how you look. Stop feeling sorry for yourself when you go to the gym. People at the gym don't give a shit you're there. They see you're trying to get yourself in shape. THERE IS NOTHING TO BE EMBARRASSED ABOUT. When I go to the gym now I make it a point to talk to the fatties and encourage them even if it's just a hey keep up the good work.

    4. Exercise but don't overdo it. If you start exercising every single day you're going to burn out within a few months. If you even make it that long. Weight loss takes time, months, years. Allow yourself and your body time to rest and recover. You're putting yourself through a physical shock that your body hasn't had in forever. Go to the gym every other day to begin with. Ride an exercise bike for an hour one day. Walk at a brisk pace on a treadmill the next time you go. Change it up so you don't get bored.

    5. Give yourself a reward chart. I lose 10 pounds I go to the movies. I lose all my target weight get tickets to the game etc. Self motivate.

    6. Again. Count your fucking calories. Make sure that after exercising you are still taking in at least 1200 calories per day. ie don't eat 1600 calories and then burn 800 of them off at the gym. Your body will enter into starvation mode for anything under 1200 calories per day. Yes you will experience weight loss but it will be unhealthy weight loss. Once you hit a certain point on a starvation diet you will find it extremely difficult to lose weight. You will also open yourself up to a whole boat load of other health problems besides fat.

    7. Don't think once you've hit your target weight the work stops. So many people start curtailing their routine once they hit their target weight and then they wonder why they are gaining again.

Seriously though. You people need to get over your image issues. Every time I see a fatty trying to get in shape I think to myself go get it dude/girl.

Starvation mode isn't a real thing but other that I have no qualms with that post. People in the gym will judge you but only if you do stupid shit. Also, lifting weights burns more calories than a treadmill or a bike.

The fuck are you talking about starvation mode isn't real lol. I've read dozens of articles stating otherwise. Please provide me some links that show it's not a real thing Milk.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Gym won't be a viable option for me for another ~5ish years. And ya, going there anyways scares the shit out of me. Only thing I enjoy is doing laps in the pool, but apparently that does very little for me.

I hate the gym, but not because I have body issues. I'm 5'7" and weigh 165lbs. I just like working out on my own. It's not exactly hard to get exercise even with the most basic equipment. I have some dumbbells that I lift, it's amazing how many different body parts you can workout just with dumbbells. And then I run pretty often. Planning to get a bike this summer so I can bike some too. Either way, point being that it's not really hard to get exercise even if you don't wanna go to the gym.

You make time Ksan. Even if it's just buying a cheap ass exercise bike and riding it when the kid is asleep. You're losing no weight by sitting there making up reasons not to work out. Whether it be time, how you feel going to the gym, kids, etc. Fuck, I ride an exercise bike while I'm playing Black Ops. You would be shocked at how many calories are burned just doing mundane shit. Cutting the grass, standing on a shore fishing, walking stairs etc. Use this to track your calories. It's got a really good sized database for food that is usually accurate. And if it's not you can change it so that it is.

    It helps. I'm not kidding.

Even hand washing your own car counts if you're looking to squeeze moderate exercise out of an otherwise occupied schedule.

    I hate bikes

And no joke, baby being asleep = I clean up the tornado she did while she was awake. There's so many things to do once she's in bed that isn't exercising. As well as wanting to relax after she's down.

I am not trying to make excuses just showing the reality of the situation. And it brings back to my point that:

The baby has a father, right? Can't you exercise at some point in time after he gets back from work and is watching the kid?

I'm not talking starvation mode after a few days of 1200 calories or less. I'm talking long term. Sooner or later there is no more fat to break down, which causes the body to start breaking down muscle and lean tissue. Hence making it unhealthy. You're depriving your body of enough of what it needs to maintain normal functions. For every starvation mode myth article there's another article claiming otherwise. We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one Milk!
