Do a half hour of exercise at least every other day, averages to about 2 hours a week. Take in 80% of the calories that you need to maintain your weight, and you'll average about a pound of week lost. You don't have to give up your favorite food, or live/die in the gym, eat in moderation and ride a bike from time to time. You can do it

Also a large part of being miserable could be the contents of your diet, need some colorful stuff in there. Multivitamins also work wonders on how you feel, I'd also look into those; have a word with one of the licensed people at your local GNC.

im overweight(5' 9" 270 lbs) I dont like it, but I love food more than I dont like being overweight. I acknowledge that being ovwrweight is completely my fault. I was a big dude in high school but I played sports and lifted weights, after highschool between my poor diet and lack of exercise all that extra weight that used to be muscle turned into fat.

my biggest problems are that I love super unhealthy food. if I could find healthy recipes that my taste buds appreciated that would go a long way in helping me lose weight.

the other problem is that because im overweight im self concious about exercising in front of people so that rules out pretty much anything I cant do in the comfort of my own home.

I would love to get back in shape, but I lack the willpower to do so.

if I could find a good cardio program I could do in my home and healthier recipes to cook, I probably could lose weight and get in shape if that became a routine.

anyone have any advice on cardio programs that dont require any extra equipment? I looked into insanity and p90x but both looked like I might have a heart attack day 1.

I dont have a problem taking responsibility for my weight, its completely my fault.

"I rack a disciprine" to quote stan marsh

and no I dont think my fatass makes me a unique and special snowflake - it makes me more likely to die at 45 from a coronary.

Honestly, 30 minutes of walking erryday (nonstop, you must sweat).

That will get gently get you where you need to be to start up p90x/insanity.

-----That or a blood transfusion from Cream Soda. (But i swear to god, going that route is probably 1000$/mL)

    And were educated wrong.

You were feeding your daughter a healthy meal of low-fat turkey meatballs and spaghetti.

Guess which part of that meal is the terrible part and which part could have been regular old 85% lean beef.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I actually think the miserableness is the sweating/heat. I hate it. Hate hate hate hate it. It makes me feel sick. The only exercising I enjoy is swimming and I think that's because I don't feel the sweat and I don't overheat. I also can't ride a bike. :/ I used to when I was little, but was never strong at it. Tried it back in college when I first moved to an apt (I wasn't fat then), had to use my parents car to get onto campus because I tried forever and couldn't stay balanced.

I trip a lot, and I have some partial ear loss in my right ear so I think that may have something to do with my balance issues.

Sweating is the fun part, I fucking love saunas. Sweating is something you'll have to overcome at some point! Also remember, you get to take a nice shower afterward.

Yep. Semantics. As everyone keeps repeating (and like I said in that same post), it's really just about exercise and a wee bit of research into foods.

    Don't over complicate it.

pediatrician specifically told me on our last visit to have her eat turkey meatballs. I'll take the doctor's word over some dick on the internet.

I don't know about that. At least 50% of the effort of getting better living habits consist of researching on the interwebs. Do it well, do it thoroughly, and the rest happens by itself.

I've found out bodybuilding forums are excellent to give insight to proper eating habits. Those guys take this shit more seriously than anyone I've seen. They know what works and most importantly can tell you why. Knowing your body is the biggest step towards healthiness. If you don't, you can't really say you're giving it your all. Do you not have the time/willpower to be on the internet and research? It helps you take control of your own body.

Then you must want to be a psychologist, because psychiatrists really don't do that anymore.

You're going to have to if you want to change, and it's going to be hard.

which is why I've completely given up. lol I actually think depression would help me more than not. I am not depressed being fat, I get depressed being sweaty and eating shitty food.

Oh, and I was on my phone so didn't deal with mentioning. The low-fat stuff was for me, not my daughter. The turkey meatballs were suggested by the pediatrician to help expand on the foods my daughter likes. One of the issues I have with food is I am an insanely picky eater. I don't want that for her, so I asked for suggestions, and the doctor mentioned doing things like changing up my recipes while still keeping them healthy for her (and used turkey meatballs as an example).

There's extremely healthy foods out there that you'd love. I absolutely guarantee it. You just have to take the time to find some. That doesn't mean changing your entire diet in a day. Just try something new here and there and eventually you'll have a nice variety to choose from.

It's flat out ignorant to believe that only unhealthy food taste good, regardless of your pallet. It's a complete mental cockblock.

This has been an excellent thread to show who "HAES" is for. Ksandra absolutely has no interest whatsoever in ceasing to be huge - she will make excuses at every turn, etc. etc.

So for her, stopping being obese isn't going to happen because she is stubborn and terrible, so the only thing left is whether she hates herself (which obviously also isn't healthy if it doesn't inspire positive change), so if HAES keeps her from hating herself then voila - better health!

You know turkey is high in sodium right? It'd be better to feed her chicken meatballs, lol. Being a picky eater is just an excuse to not change your eating habits. I enjoy eating a bunch of different foods and sometimes get into a rut of eating junk. Eventually you get tired of it and resolve to change.

You may not be depressed because you're fat, but you will be depressed later in life when it interrupts your ability to lead a normal, healthy life.
