I wouldn't do it. My issue is that there is a destination.
I love space, I have no proclivities to existing on the things occupying it. I would much rather observe them than partake of them.
Futurize one of these without all the silly glass and give it a kickin' library and media center and leave me on it alone for a few hundred years. I'll write letters if I see anything interesting on my way, I promise.
The idea of no return trip scares me. I don't have a lot of ties but I do have children and the thought of never seeing them again is too much for me. I couldn't ever do it.
M-A-R-S, mars bitches. Red Rocks!
Can't wait to play the Oregon Trail type game based on this.
YOU HAVE DIED OF SPACE DYSENTERY
Fucking lol
Aren't they also doing like a 24/7 reality show with this if it ever happens to help raise future funds? I mean if it did happen, literally every person with the ability to watch would, at least for awhile. Which would probably lead to 5s of someone taking a space shit and then 55s of "this space shit brought to you by mars candy bars".
Half the people who make it to mars are going to get space aids and receive no assistance from earth, and then start a war decades later to steal earth back. We must protect the 1:1 scale gundam, it is our only hope.
As much as I'd love to visit Mars the no return trip is a deal breaker. It would be quite boring there. I like to explore new places but the problem is there wouldn't be the transport to explore the planet. We've got no plane that can fly on Mars and any ground transportation will be limited in distance and terrain. You couldn't go too far from your base either. For safety reasons the mission will likely touch down on the flattest most boring part of the planet too kinda like most of our robotic rovers. So what would you spend your time doing apart from shagging each other? The internet would be terrible due to the 5-10 minute ping you'd have which rules out any online gaming and makes even normal browsing painful.
I'm still not convinced this mission will event get off the ground. There's been a lot of talk about ambitious space missions from private companies in recent years but I'll believe it when I see it. This company is seriously underestimating the costs if they think they can do it for $6 billion. Even that is a figure they'll never reach without some backing from crazy rich people. I can't imagine advertising revenue from TV shows coming anywhere near that.
i'd do it, i admit i lol'd when the article said they have raised 81k out of 6 billion dollars needed lol. gotta start somewhere i guess
I would be good for this. I have agressive switches over the smallest things.
If anyone annoyed me, by mid trip while locked in that tin can, I'd plobably have killed some people been wearing their skin, and have devided up the group into tribes. I'd have that bitch tin can running like a small scale Pandorum movie rip off.
Sounds good for some reality tv. Sign me up.
Just watched one of the advisers to this Mars One project give an interview and she was a fucking nut. This is gonna potentially be the hardest flop of a project we've ever known (they said it would only cost $6 billion?)
