Those useless locutions exist in many languages. In dutch, it's "eens" at the end of sentences and "je" at the end of words; in Brussels (but not in Wallonia) french, there's "une fois" at the end of sentences, because of dutch influence (translation of "eens"), in the south of France, it's "peuchère".

Most swedes (including me) occasionally get strange phrases since we'd phrase it a different way in Swedish, so we translate it word-by-word in our head.

The trick is to construct your sentences in the target language, not construct them in your native language and then translate.
The downside, though, is potential confusion: anecdote tiem: once, I was playing XI and chatting in /l (in an english-speaking ls) when a friend came to tell me something in french... and I just couldn't understand her, I had to finish typing my sentence to do so.

What's funny is for lulz I put up a body shot and cropped out face on Plenty of Fish, to see what kinds of responses I got.

I talked to everyone, guys, girls etc for the sake of the experiment.

Over half of the people I talked to lost interest after finding out I was black/mixed with. (literally, over half). They'd ask for a face pic and after I sent it, I'd get "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were black" (Don't know how the fk they didn't know that. Some ppl thought I was full hispanic, which is understandable. Other would ask me "Are you white?" lol'd irl)

What I dont get is why people think the US should be so much higher?

People with big ass mouths can say whatever they want and thus it seems much larger then it is. Maybe it has something to do with that I live in New York and no one could give a crap what race/nationality you are as long as your lawn is cut and you do not throw a party every night.

I travel a lot and yes you do see some people who might be dicks to others, but that is not the norm and if you think so run your own unbiased survey. I don't think you are going to find that more then 1 in 20 people hate another race here. Also checking the small towns with less then 1000 people is not a survey, we have large cities around the country and that is where you will see this to be right.

We have full freedom of press, thus the ugly shit gets reported the most.

but, you have to understand that major cities make up more then fifty percent of the population. Based off that thinking you would need the rest of the country to be close to a 1/10~1/5 rate hate other race. I do not think any way you spin it that is likely.

edit: I take that back, 80 percent of the population lives in Urban areas. that rate is even lower. its closer to a 1/5 if you cut out major areas like NYC
