yea i've been absorbing and applying Ruu's combos, holy shit tho, i was just wondering why my shit didn't come out most of the time, i seriously need to slow down hardcore in this game compared to AC. My execution leveled up thanks to just slowing down a bit. Damn this game is fucking amazing, i'll be playing online soon, i'm just brushing up combos because i don't wanna get fucked with the quickness. from what i've gathered, i learned 3 BnBs w/ May, 1 of them being a counter hit setup which does about 65% no meter. <3

Probably worth noting that the guts system in this game is completely insane and 65% on most lifebars is more like 40%.

Not really sure who I wanna play at the moment. Spent the most time with Ramlethal so far and she's fun, but IAD combos with the tiny input buffer just seem like a nightmare online. Actually most characters seem like a nightmare online maybe I should just play Sol.

For anyone interested in the Guts system/damage scaling - http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index...rd-Guts-Thread

And defense is super super cereal in this game. It's incredibly hard to get someone off you once they're in, especially cornered. The 1 frame reversal window definitely plays into this, along with a general lack of invulnerable moves.

Honestly just play Sol. He has a very direct style, isn't overly complicated and is also really good.

Sol is like ryu in the sense of learning fundamentals. I may try online tonight w/ one of you guys to get a feel of it. Especially w/ IAD combos.

I'm going to work Christmas party but I'll probably be home around 2030-2100 EST if you wanted to play

I considered playing Sol but one of my close friends is a hardcore Sol main (it's our nickname for him) and I'd rather not spend all my time playing Mirror matches.

You could try Chipp. He's got a pretty high execution barrier if you want to do real damage, but his rush down and pressure game is top notch.

You'll have to deal with him being a glass cannon though, since he takes more damage then anyone in the cast.

I'll give him a try. What are the differences between Chipp and Slayer?

The simplest way to describe them is that Chipp is pure speed and relentless rushdown. He's got a rekka chain but you usually never finish it because the last hit doesn't combo (it's an overhead that can be used for resets). Has teleport and is the only character that can triple jump.

Slayer is more of a stick and move style, using mixups off his Dandy Step (a dash back/dash forward move with a different followup for each button) and the fact that his dash goes thru opponents.

Yeah Slayer is more my style. Chipp sounds more like Yun which may be interesting too. I got to his trial 10 and got stuck though, lol. I have no idea how to perform the wall grab?

On trial 19 with Slayer now

I just mashed the shit out of the directions for his wall grab because I couldn't understand the timing either.

Btw it might be obvious by the animations, but mappa (the lunge punch) is safe on block (P version is -1, K is -2. Fastest non basic throw attack in the game is Chipp's P which is 3 frames). It's a good pressure tool and on hit you can pretty easily confirm into a RC > Dandy Step into Crosswise Heel.

You can always have the game show you a sample of the trial in the menu.

That one is still kinda weird even with the video.

Video only goes so far anyways, even seeing the inputs Potemkin's Hammerfall Break loops still confuse my fingers.

Actually, one of the anti-Slayer missions is IBing Mappa and punishing before his command grab followup.

In other news, Ky/Chipp has me re-evaluating my damage BNBs. Apparently 2D > Stun Dipper only works at a stupidly specific range against him.
