Idk how much more I want to watch after the first episode honestly. The showrunners are only applying a cursory amount of respect to the source material
Spoiler: show
I’m kinda here for the train wreck and impending memes if I’m being honest

Paramount release first episode of Halo for free on Youtube, can't even crack 100k views in a day.
As someone who never paid a huge amount of attention to the lore in the games I've enjoyed the first two episodes.
Nice to be on the other side of the coin after the first half of Witcher season 2 was basically giving me an aneurysm
Thought I'd wait for a couple to come out and the best thing I've seen is a clip on youtube of the first action scene with in-game sound effects.
This is just plain boring, but considering what Halo has for lore it's hard to focus on barely functioning relationships between people with no emotions.
Cool scene, but I do hope the show-runners don't portray that Covenant as generic braindead monsters with no higher reasoning like they were in that action scene when you look back at it. Cause Elites? They're not fucking stupid. Elites are every bit as intelligent if not more so than your average human. The entire first action scene of this series treats them like just big dumb mindless alien monsters. Also, the covenant as a whole have military tactics they employ quite regularly. Grunts as frontline fodder, ackals as secondary fodder/snipers, Elites are almost always deployed as leaders of said fodder in small units, not entire taskforces consistently entirely of simply Elites. Hunters are basically sentient tanks, and so on. This is the same year as the Fall of Reach, these aren't broken remnants of a failed Covenant ala 4/5/Infinite, this is peak tactical Covenant.
Their mission in its entirety was "Get artifact and leave", (honestly this team should have consisted of like, 3 Zealot class Elites and nothing more if we're talking game lore, but ignoring that) which they failed spectacularly to go hunt them some Mullets. Granted, they had no idea Spartans would be deployed there and I can forgive the lack of other covenant races simply because this was suppose to be an Artifact extraction team... but later in that scene we see that they left an Elite behind at the Artifact whos job apparently was to not run away with the Artifact but instead watch Master Chief steal the artifact cause plot needed it to happen. Why didn't the Elites who abandoned their artifact mission to kill some human kids radio to the guy left behind to gtfo with the artifact when the Spartan's arrived? Like this for sure is what would have happened if they were intelligent like they are suppose to be, they would absolutely focus on completing the mission. Instead, one of them, wounded and defeated, chose to in his final moments try to kill Mullet girl, again, for no logical reason.
It doesn't ruin that scene but its one of those things on later review you just "Elites wouldn't have done that".
Also a side note I wonder why the Covenant are even at war with humanity. To paraphrase the books, the Covenant/Prophets want humans extinct in the game-world because Humans are the rightful inheritors of Forerunner tech and that fact threatens the space-popes, so extinction is how they try to keep the secret. But in TV-Land, they're working directly alongside a human who is visibly the only one(Until Chief, also a Human) able to activate Forerunner artifacts, seems like you can't really hide that anymore, so theres really no reason to go Extinction scale on humans as opposed to idk, recruiting them into the Covenant, a topic that was semi-covered in some extended lore.
Honestly unless im misunderstanding you, I'm pretty sure he's saying hes disappointed in the show because it has barely functioning relationships/No emotions, compared to the lore of the Main-universe Halo lore/Books/etc.
Yep exactly, Halo has so much going on and we're going to probably get 1% of it, excluding character names.
And yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they just treat 99% of all Covenant as stupid monsters rather than a diverse collective, and doing stuff because plot needs to happen rather than this is what might occur.
The lore in at least half the games were average to below average. I have also enjoyed the first 3 episodes of this way more than I imagined, which is a nice surprise. The trailer didn’t do the show justice. The Covenant / High Council have been done exceptionally well.
Already got more content hours out of this than Halo Infinite. Hopefully several seasons to come.
They lost me at the romance shit..
You know I saw it coming and was telling my wife I really hope they are not doing what I think they are doing, since ep 2.. Yup they did it. dumbest shit. I was enjoying the show as someoe who never played halo. But yea even for me that last ep was horrific.
