It's probably not recording actual video (unless you want it to). But it is probably recording data on your behavior and how you respond to different things during media (movies, games, specific television, etc.). It's already been stated that it can measure your heart beat somehow (I don't know how well), and it can read emotional response. The fact that it's required to be connected and on at all times in order for the console to function pretty much implies that even if it isn't recording actual video/audio, it's processing it and saving data based on when you pay attention, when you don't pay attention, how you respond to different things (like which types of product placements and advertisements you pay more attention to, your emotional responses, if any, etc.).

I'm sure the money that can be made from having that kind of information is probably pretty substantial. And as far as it being able to charge you based on the number of people in the room, that's based off of a patent detailing it that MS filed for a while back iirc. I doubt they'll actually do that (especially seeing as how you could just use a different device to watch the movie), but it could potentially be used for offering theater movies at home or something like that in the future.

That is insane. If this turns out to be true I can see a big uproar about it. I mean damn.. that's violating your privacy on a whole new level there.

I'm still on my launch day ps3. I'm on my 5th 360 which is now an S model. The first one was traded with the protection plan at compUSA, then the other 3 are in my closet, 1 i fixed, 6 months later it died again. The other 2 were a lost cause.

I had 5 360s brick before I finally gave up on the system. Kind of like Calli, I've never had a PS3 brick, but I did have one where the digital outputs died for some reason. I ended up replacing it though, since component looked like ass on the TV.

Gone through 3 or 4 Xboxs. For all the hate towards Best Buy plans, they saved me money on the 360.

I also still have my launch PS3, never got brobox because I cant be bothered with FPS and RRoD. I am probably the only person who doesnt give a shit about Halo, lol

Still have my original PS3 as well. Not a launch one though, got mine a year later or so. Never had an Xbox since I had roommates who had them. Between them, they had 4 RRoDs. First one was a launch 360 which happened before Microsoft acknowledged the problem. 2 of the others were sent back for repair. The last one was that roommate's third RRoD, so he said screw it and got a PS3 at that point.
