As much as I personally admire the PS4, and as nice as it will inevitably look to core gamers and developers alike, I can't see the average consumer getting excited over a $500 price point. All of these great engineering decisions they've made won't mean dick to the average Walmart shopper.

I bought my 360 a long time ago but iirc that was part of my decision because I wasn't spending that much for a game system(ps3).

Definitely won't buy the PS4 in the first few months if it's set at 500. Honestly, I probably wouldn't buy it early on regardless, simply due to the sheer fact that launch titles usually suck. That and the fact that the PS4 most likely won't support PS3 titles.

The PS3 launch went extraordinarily well; it was next to impossible to get one in stores. They could price the PS4 at any price they wanted, and the same outcome would occur. I don't believe they will overprice it this go around though, but I think $499 is a fair price. If the shitty ass Wii U was like $300+?, then PS4 will be $499+ for sure.

If you think the price will fall after "the few couple of months", you are crazy. MAYBE the following Christmas holiday, and I still doubt that as the console will be hard to just go and pickup in the store, especially during holidays, for the first year.

Logical fallacy... they only released about as many units AZ they expected to sell at launch. As I recall its launch was nothing like the wii's where it way outperformed expectations and could hardly be found for a month.

I got a Wii off a Best Buy shelf that was next to 10 others about 5 days after launch in a city.

Stats can easily be manipulated to show "over or under" performing as far as sales; Nintendo could have simply under cast on purpose.

Ps3 was by far harder to get off the shelves, and I was trying to buy as many as possible. I ended up with 1.

Uh, no, lol PS3 was not hard to find at all. At least not anywhere in oregon/washington.

They didn't produce many but working at best buy, whatever we did sale at launch was returned in a few days and then they just sat on the shelf because no one wanted it.

Ps3 launch was pretty bad for them. A lot of people were able to walk into best buy, target, circuit city, etc and find one.

My g/f worked at game crazy in New Jersey at the time and it was the same story for her, a lot of units were returned and then they couldnt sell them because it wasnt wanted.

And in that same area, Wii was impossible to find unless you knew a shipment was coming in. The Best Buy I worked at got 120 at launch, then nothing 3 weeks, then 20, then nothing till the next year.

There sure is some anecdotal evidence up in here. Results may vary. Both systems were ridiculously easy for me to find in Wisconsin, but it's Wisconsin.

So you're saying that the AI of PC versions of the same multiplatform games are better than the PS3/360? Why would the developers put all that extra time to making the PC version better? And while we're at it, if that is what they do, why wouldn't they do the same thing when it came to the PS3 version vs the 360 version? After all, PS3 was much more graphically capable than 360. Why did developers make their games to look so much better on PC than consoles, but not better for PS3 vs 360?

It's the customers that usually mod the games and make them better. There are only a few games that are made better for PC and that's simply because those companies are trying to reward their loyal PC customers and maybe show off a little and try to push everyone forward.

Console games hold PC games back, because companies have limitations due to memory and graphic cards on consoles and it costs too much to make games so much better, just for PCs. Not that I hate consoles or anything but if you are going to release one that is basically a shitty PC then you are asking to be compared to a PC.
