My wife never had any crazy mood swings or food cravings, but she did want sex practically all the time. We did it a couple times daily for a few months and she later told me she would masturbate several times a day too. She also said she was very very close to cheating on me a few times because the urges were so strong. If you're keeping yourself stocked with chocolate and ice cream be careful about that... after the baby pops out and she realises she didn't magically lose all of the 40lb she put on during pregnancy (if she's gaining weight... wait what am I saying, everyone gains weight!) she will remember the chocolates and blame you too. It's better to go for quality over quantity.

I have no advice for the crazy though, I had pretty mellow pregnancies with my two. I think. Only thing I can think of is aside from hormones anxiety can cause mood swings or similar reactions too. I freaked out with my first pregnancy when we went to antenatal class and the midwife was going through everything that could go wrong scaring us all with horror stories (plus when you're pregnant every person you know will come and tell you their own horror stories of pain and 6-day deliveries and forceps and tears and omg the fuck is wrong with you stop sharing with me) and I was just like fuckkkkkkk is it too late to cancel this thing aaaaghh I'm going to be in so much pain and blood and guts and gore do not want. I was a deer monster in headlights for a couple of weeks after that just snapping at everyone and everything until I accepted the inevitable. And then it all ended up being stupidly easy compared to the nightmare stories. ¬_¬

My wife was amazing when she was pregnant. She enjoyed being pregnant and she was very happy. She did cry very easily at commercials, sad movies, shows etc. We made the mistake of watching the final two Harry Potter movies when she was pregnant and that was a big mistake because so many characters die.

I would say the hormone swings and lack of sleep that happen during the first year of our sons life were way harder to deal with than pregnancy.

This is so amazingly true. I was very very lucky that when my baby was first born her sleep pattern at night was 4 hours-2 hours-2 hours, when most are all 2. But even then I felt like I was in a daze of trying to get some sleep.
