So far, it is only going on on weekends. I'd imagine it will stay that way until Phase 4 which is still unknown when this will be.
Bleh thought so. I think I literally got home in time for the last test period to end or something. So this Friday or Saturday will be my first chance to play?
So curious. Still not in the beta test (guess I have to wait until Phase 4 or whatever), but what do I do with the old 1.0 FFXIV install? Uninstall?
Also, I"m a non-legacy 1.0 player (never put down money on the game, only played during the free period) and have the 1.0 CE. So that gets me.. the CE Realm Reborn items, but not early access, correct? This shit truly is confusing.
And by EDT he means PDT. Silly wamoura.
As a 1.0 player you should have access to this phase. See link
Akiyama, just go to Gamestop and pre-order the game for $5 only. You'll get a code on your receipt. When it comes time for early start, use that code. Later on after release, go back to Gamestop and cancel the preorder.
On the topic of early access...
I pre-ordered the game in March when Newegg had a sale for $20 for the regular version of the game. Now I am into the game and wondering if the CE bonus' may be worth it. Any idea if Newegg would "upgrade" my pre-order with the $10 off coupon still attached?
As well my girlfriend wants the game but her computer is iffy, almost certainly needs a new CPU and maybe graphics card as well, any idea how poorly the game runs on minimum specs? She'll rarely do big group events, Fate's probably the most taxing to her system, I'd think.
Seems like the right topic...
Played the original Beta years ago and have barely followed the game until this point. I'm looking for a way to approach my first days in AAR, a "plan of attack", if anyone can give me a list of priorities.
Some other questions:
Can someone give me a brief run-down of Gladiator, Pugilist, and Marauder? How they "function", useful stats, or what their niches are? I played PLD, PUP, WAR, and DRK in XI so I'm hoping for similar vibes.
Also, what type of gear they use? I'd like to start in Ul'dah and I was wondering which DoH to focus on to maintain their gear.
Was it around Lv10 you could make it to the other cities?
Can anyone "sum up" the whole story leading up to and including the AAR thing? AFAIK "EVIL EMPIRE" summoned Bahamut and he done meteored and stuff.
Sum of the story
Someone who we didn't want to died
Someone who we wanted to didnt die
#1 play the beta and see if it appeals to you as a game lol
GLA, PGL, and MRD gear is probably gonna cover a whole lot of random DoHs. Probably Leatherworker, Armorer, Blacksmith will cover most things. Goldsmith for Jewelery, naturally. Some other questions:

Someone else can probably give you a more indepth explanation of PLD WAR MNK, but you're looking at STR/VIT stacking mostly.
I think that's when you could rent chocobos yeah. You cannot access Vyldbrand (Limsa Lominsa, Marauder & Arcanist Guilds) without an Airship pass afaik, which is Lv15. You could travel between Gridania & Ul'dah fine at 10 probably though. It might be akin to running to Jeuno at Lv20 in FFXI since you can get kapow'd on mounts in XIV.Was it around Lv10 you could make it to the other cities?

Keep doing the main story quests. They have their own icon so you won't miss it. As you go along you'll unlock some features of the game. Also do your class quests to unlock other features and abilites. And finally be prepared for solo play until Lv15. Doing those quests and other contents will get you there in no time.
This. Aside from main storyline and your class quests (initial quest you're told to go unlock, level 5, level 10, level 15, unsure if there's a 20+) you're free to do whatever. Whether you want to do Fates, guildleve's (unlocked via main storyline), hunting logs or normal questing. Though I highly recommend doing hunting logs as you find the creatures, or find a quest to kill them.
I highly suggest you go after the main story, along with keeping up with hunting log as much as you can as it gives a looot of xp. Also try to join FATEs you see in the area as the pop up, you'll get a nice xp boost from those as well, especially in the earlier levels.
Getting to 15 will be a joke now that we learned the ropes of the game via beta. I actually plan on leveling up CNJ to 15 first, get airship access, then go to Ul'Dah and start working on my GLA main... will save me the trouble later when I want to get the PLD quest going.
