I mean it's not too unbelievable. In 3U before they added the DLC missions for it the only way to get Hallowed Jhen Mohran was to fight Alatreon in the Village Quests. So while you didn't necessarily get blocked out of all G-Rank fights you weren't able to fight that monster unless you completed all of the village quests. Wouldn't be too strange to have a similar setup for some special quests in G-Rank for 4U.

I hadn't seen a complete list of the monsters from 4U yet, glad to see we get a lot more "end game" monsters to hunt compared to 3U, the Fatalis, Kushala Daora and Teostra alone should be fun, but i'm biased cause I like killing dragons, and Alatreon really didn't have good craftable items aside from the weapons

never played a mh game before, tried demo as swordaxe guy. was not very impressed, shitty pixelation of the game kind of turns me off. maybe I did it wrong. playing on a 3ds xl without control stick might have been a factor.

Will this one get rereleased on wii u like the last one did? maybe ill try it then.

The 3DS version of 3U was better then the Wii U version because of some frame rate issues. I'd use the Wii U version to play online, but otherwise stuck to the 3DS version.

Same. I loved the graphics on the Wii U. It was the version I had first, but once I played the 3DS version just once... that framerate improvement was so obvious and so much better feeling. My poor Wii U got neglected and sad after that.

I'm not sure I understand Charge blade

I start in sword until it says charge, then i switch the axe, problem is that (without pressing R) after 2-3 hits it seems to switch back to sword, and then i get recoil because i'm still charged

You talking charge axe? There's those dots underneath the sharpness meter, certain attacks in Axe mode use up those "charges" after you run out of charges it switches you back.

Switch axe works similar, except it has a meter instead of charges, and in my opinion is a lot more fun :D

From I what saw with the Charge Blade is generally stay in S/S mode while building up your charge. Once you've got it charged up and have an opening pop into Axe mode and and unleash a combo. If it's charged and you don't have an opening for the Axe combo, dump the charge into the shield so you won't get recoil.

Are you making sure to dump the charges before switching to axe mode? If the vials aren't filled you aren't gonna really get shit from the axe and you'll keep recoiling in S/S

I didn't have this problem when I tried it, are you strictly using A and X seperatle to attack? Or are you using the A+X attacks as well? Because if I recall only the A+X attacks used up charges, i'm not sure if the weapon might "overheat" similar to switch axe if you don't use the charges maybe? I'll try it again tonight and see dhat I can see :D

Doombear already posted the best video on the topic (seriously GaijinHunter is amazing, he's releasing more videos of the other weapons he's missed and will be finishing up with the bowguns), but to give a tl;dr you never want the charge gauge to say "Charge". That is simply an indication that you have been attacking with SnS mode too much and it is basically forcing you to load up or you deal pitiful damage and bounce off of everything. To load up I believe its R+A+X or simply R after a backhop. In axe mode all A attacks use up Phials, 1 per attack. If you do your third A combo attack it automatically switches you to SnS mode again. If you are pressing A+X while in Axe mode that does the third A combo right away and puts you back into SnS mode.
