Apparently you can get Sharpness+1 and Fast Sharpen on an armor set in Low Rank. Bored at work reading through GaijinHunter's earlier guides and this one in particular (Noteworthy Armor Sets) is rather enlightening.

I'll still take it Voyage. Would be a ton of help with the low level Gunlances. They are always a nightmare at first because it feels like you are sharpening more than you are fighting.

mmm according to Athena's MH4G you cannot get Sharpness +1 till Rank 5 village and you'd need

You can't trade for Ceanataur parts until you clear Village 5 Star. That is near the end of Low Rank, yeah? Either way, not a bad set for the tail end there.

Oh I was saying you are right =) I honestly wasn't sure where the break was between Low and High Village in this one. Looks like 6 Star is the final Low Rank tier and then there is 7-10 star which is Village High Rank.

7-9 is High Rank for Village I believe, 10 is the special set of G-Rank Village quests that you have to do some online shit to unlock. But yeah, general progression is Velocidrome > Tetsu > Narja > Gore so once you get to Gore just save your Tetsu boots for the Torso Up and save your Gore body and waist so you can use those for a mixed Gore set in High Rank to get Bio Master, Sharp+1, Challenger+2, Fast Sharpen.

Probably too early to tell, but how do you guys rate this game so far, worth all the hype?

Ive had a good time with the demo, and it was fun hunting with each other despite the limited (i.e. one) hunts and time frame.

I think it'll be great once everyone gets everything going.

I mean besides the new verticality and faster pace it's still at it's core the same Monster Hunter formula. If you've never played a Monster Hunter game before I'd say to try the demo to get a feel for how it plays as the 3 monsters available give you a pretty good breakdown of how most fights will go.

If you are a fan of Monster Hunter this is probably the best in the series to date but if you played the others and didn't like the style of combat or the grindy nature I doubt this one will change your mind.

Glad I didnt play the demo. Just randomly did a new boss fight. It was a flying thing and I attacked it midair, rode on its back, stabbed it in the butt till it fell, then smashed its face in with a hammer until it got dizzy. 10/10 A++ would buy again.

Just depends where you live on the route. Most stuff I have delivered is usually out at 630-700, but doesn't reach my house til 4 PM at the earliest.

If the skills are all shit just worry about defensive stats. I bought the chain mail as soon as I had the dough since the starting armor only has 1 point of Defense per slot.

Oh Kut-Ku. Back in the day it was that first cockblock because it was the first fight you couldn't just bully your way thru.

What weapon are you using Rata? Typically for all Flying Wyverns (Yian, Rath, etc.) the most important thing to be aware of is their charge. Stand off to the side of their body when you attack and you should be able to dodge most of everything they do. Tail swipes always come in pairs, basically they do a full 360 spin consisting of two 180 swipes. Monsters also have a pretty poor turning speed and the turning animation usually gives you enough time to smack them once or twice then dodge roll once they face you. You can use this to attack their head right as they turn then dodge cancel to the side and avoid whatever attack they choose to do.

By the way, I love how the taxonomy works in MH where even if you haven't fought a certain wyvern before as long as you know what type it is (Flying, Brute, Fang) you can have a good idea of what attacks you'll be seeing barring the special moves each particular species gets.
