Man they weren't kidding when people said to not start out with Insect Glaive. Default bug moves so freaking slow, it's like an old person trying to cross the street. Sticking with Charge Blade until I can buy some Speed Food.

I used the charge Blade for a bit but I've quickly reverted to Switch Axe. Even though I'm not a huge fan of the new Sword mode X animation, I still just know the weapon too well to not use it in the early game until I can start crafting other weapons.

Sorry all, been MIA from the topic tonight. Just really been messing about in Caravan. Having a ton of fun and 90% of the fun is because my daughter is playing the second copy I have and it is providing no end of enjoyment. Me? I am just now hitting Village 3 and reluctantly nabbing Tetsu armor just because why not.

I found the same problem with Insect Glaive. I threw some nectar into it just to try to upgrade, but I don't have the parts yet.

Made a Barbarian Axe instead and a set of G Jaggi armor so I hopefully don't die every time tomorrow. Time for sleep.

Doombear, when you say Village 3 do you mean the 4* quest village or the 3* one? cause i'm on the 4* village quests now, I think Nerscylla is probably my favorite monster to hunt so far in this game, such a crazy fight lol, jumping off walls to knock it down from the webs and such XD

What armor did you end up making Drai? I'm in the process of Velociprey but I'm thinking that was a poor decision. Alloy is just as good (minus the attack) and is much easier to make. I'm already close to finishing my set but only being able to hunt Velocidrome in Guild Quests is kind of annoying. Could have just made Alloy and rushed to Tetsu.

Just 3* Drai. Haven't hit 4 yet. I have been sidetracked by upgrading my GL. Finally got a bit of green/Rare 2 weapon with the Striker's Gunlance. Should make Tetsu a bit easier (he's a joke with GL but should make it faster), then on to Gyp, Gen and Nyrscylla.

EDIT: Also... as someone who put exactly 560 hours into MH3U (with at least 450 of those on 3DS vs Wii U) with every second being on the CPP... I am having a rough time adapting to the nub. It works great, but the placement is totally opposite of where my brain wishes it was. It also doesn't help that it feels the exact same as the buttons as far as size. It's going to take me a while to get used to that.

So while farming Velocidrome in the Everwood I got an excavated Hammer that has the attack power of a High Rank Hammer <_< No Negative affinity or anything bad either. Has decent green sharpness too. I hope this is a sign of things to come when it comes to Plate/gem drops later.

right now i'm running Hammer with Chainmail armor with 3 Health Decorations socketed in, gives me half hunger and +50 HP, all the low rank armor sets so far don't have great abilities on them sadly, Nerscylla set might be good for capturing though, it has Perception, Speed Setup and Sleep on it, use the ranged set with a bow or something could be good, the Nerscylla bow also has +20% Affinity on it, so lots of crits :D

I was actually thinking about getting the Nerscylla set just cause it looks like badass Escaflowne armor, lol. Then making the Sleep Insect Glaive or SnS once I get to High Rank and slotting in Bombardier for Sleep Bombing fun.
