I think Nerscylla is probably my favorite monster to hunt so far in this game, such a crazy fight lol, jumping off walls to knock it down from the webs and such XD

You weren't kidding, just fought her for the first time in the urgent and she was fun! I am really getting much better at using my jumping off ledge attacks when my Gunlance is drawn. I can actually do a combo if I do a running shell blast. It looks pretty awesome. My hunter charges forward off the edge, jumps, shells which sends her flying backwards... and I can then combo into a normal overhead slam.

It feels good...

Rata for DB the skills you mostly want to look aside from Sharp+1 are Razor Sharp/Fast Sharpen and depending on whether you go Elemental or Pure Raw either Elemental Attack Up or (Element) Attack Up, the difference being one raises all elemental damage by 10% and the other raises a specific element by up to 20%. For pure Raw you'll either want Critical Eye or Attack Up. Critical Eye gets better the higher tier your gear is as it gives an average % boost to your attack while Attack Up gives a flat boost to True Raw. If you plan on using Mega Dash Juices frequently Evasion +1 is really all you need as DB Dash dodge already has better invincibility frames than the regular dodge roll.

The 2 different material requirements for crafting weapons is for either upgrading to that weapon from an earlier version or producing it from that tier to begin with. Typically it's easier to upgrade as it requires either less materials or no rare materials while producing is the opposite. For example say you want to make Rathalos DBs. You can either get 5 Rath webbings, 1 Rath Plate, 4 Flame Sacs, 3 Claws to make it right now or you can make the earlier version on the tree (Let's say it's Bone Swords+) and then it will only cost 4 Scales, 3 Shells, and a Monster Bone M. It usually cost more money to go the upgrade route but it saves on materials which when dealing with rare drops like Plates/Gems is a massive time saver.

Also keep in mind while Capturing gives more rewards on the Quest Reward screen, it also prevents you from carving after you succeed and some items are only obtainable from carves. It's a bit of a hassle right now but the MH4G Dex can tell you what the highest % chance of obtaining a specific item is, either from Carve/Capture/Break/Quest Reward, but it's still in Japanese for the time being. You can still figure it out using the icons and the Armor section lists the materials necessary in the same order that they show up in the Armory, just double click the item and it'll bring up what drops it and where and at what rank.

For Paddok Oil you can try breaking Tetsu's back as well as capturing for the best chance. Claws are from breaking the back 2 legs or rarely from breaking the face.

Drai did you manage to break Nerscylla's mandibles without bombs or anything? I kept bouncing even with green sharpness so I wasn't able to break them before I ended up killing her :\

There's usually always one at least in Area 9 of Sunken Hollow on your left once you drop in and a few can spawn in Area 4,5,6,7,8. Also obligatory equip full leather set for Gathering+, etc.

That's what I was doing earlier to break Tetsu's fangs. I also kept killing G Jaggi before I could break his head for the frill so I ended up using only the sword burst with Switch Axe to break it/kills him.

I want to go back to Glaive but the bug is so awful on these low level ones and I don't have the nectar or materials to upgrade.

In the car now for a 4 hour ride. I'm living vicariously through you guys now as you update.

I don't think you need anything crazy to start guild quests. I was wearing Jaggi with Rata earlier. Only died the one time when both he and I got caught by Tetsu's charge attack and both carted at the same time.

Ok here's another dumb question

Let's use this weapon as an exemple

Twin Chainsaws 140 Status Effect-Thunderblight 80

This a Db

the 140 Dmg is it if both blade hit is is it 140 per blade ? (so if both hit it will be 140X2)

And the 80 Thunderblight dmg that is an 80 dmg added on the 140?
