Gore S/Gore set complete. Also managed to get Wide-Range+1 with a charm I had (Wide Range+7 1 Slot) and gem out the Fire Resist -20 so a fireball doesn't one shot me. Next up is grinding to HR7 so I can get my next weapon upgrade.

Got my second Beak this morning from Naja to complete my mixed set. Thinking I should start doing some of the food supply quests and then back to Village Quest grinding.

I haz gaem. How do I play with BG peeps? I've had a 3DS for a year and a half but literally never played online with it lol. Right now just playing through solo, up to the Gore kill quest, but I think I should start working on my HR as well.

I'd like to do some HR3 Key Quests this evening if anyone else needs them.

Anyone have a good guide to help me understand gearing in this game atm I got Sharpness +1 and Speed sharpening due to Voyage's tip. But Since I do not have experience high level yet (Hr4 and Village *6) I'm not sure what skills are good or bad to do. same with weapons.

1) I Know that Sharpness + 1 and Razor Sharp will become Vital (and probable needed at all time) but what about the rest, what can be good?.

2) Is it better to make 1 Hybrid build or making different buils for different suitation (exemple Lightning resist set for Zinogre)

What's better dmg DRG or Blast? Because i'm wondering between 2 different hammer atm (those stats are for the highest upgrade)

dmg 1248 Dragon 320 Affinity 55% and (0 purple without sharpness +1)

2) Tigrex Hammer Set
dmg 1508 Blast 230 Affinity 20% (0 purple without sharpness +1)

Gore Hammer gets longer purple with Sharpness +1 so i suspect that with gore I won' tneed Speed Sharpening to keep purple. but honestly i,m all confused atm

I usually look for Sharpness +1 and Razor Sharp as you said. After that I normally look for Evasion (or Evade Distance if I can't get Evasion), and Attack Up. Other useful skills could be Expert (Critical Eye gives +Affinity), Bombadier (Bomb boost increases bomb damage), Honed Blade (gives Sharpness +1 and Attack Up L), and you'll likely want various sets for gathering, combination, capture sets, charm mining sets, etc. Those sets can come a bit later though.

These aren't all the skills either, there are a lot of them. Obviously you'll also want different sets for Bow or Bowgun as well. You would also look for somewhat different sets for Lance/Gunlance.

As far as the hammers go, Dragon Element is just like Fire, Water, Ice, etc. Some monsters will be weak to it, while others could be strong against it. Blast is kind of a catch all that a lot of people fell back on in Tri/3U. Blast (previously named Slime) is good not only at breaking parts, but generally adding damage every few hits. The catch being that you need to hit the same area a few times before the blast will go off.

You'll likely want to just make both. Gore has less damage, but larger affinity and more purple. Tigrex has less purple, but 300 more damage and a cover-all element. You can use the Dragon element on those weak to it, and use the BLast on the rest.

EDIT: Also, I mentioned it in chat, but couldn't remember the conditions. In order to use the elements on a weapon shown in parentheses you need to have the Awaken skill. So in order for the Blast element to work with the Tigrex hammer you'll also need the Awaken skill.

Double EDIT: GaijinHunter's armor set suggestions also give a great armor set for later in the High Rank quests. Gives Honed Blade (Sharpness +1 and Attack Up L), Razor Sharp, and Fast Sharpener. He also has a similar set with Evasion rather than Razor Sharp. Both are really nice sets.

Rata, which weapon type are you specifically asking about for skills? Dual Blades pretty much require Minds Eye or the new skill that gives multiple effects to you, Edgemaster maybe? But yeah, with minds eye you will never get deflected, regardless of sharpness, also evade distance and evasion +, with Evade distance in Arch Demon mode I basically could dash across screens faster then running.

For hammer, depending on hammer, blast is super usefull, assuming it works as well as it did in 3U the Brachydios hammer along with the Brachydios set is that pimp juice, bomb boost increases the blast damage, and all those explosions to the face help break horns etc and help KO monsters more often, also try to get KO master and maybe The one that helps break parts off faster, Part Breaker or something like that?

Every weapon can be good, though you'll see specific types come up for speed running or shenanigans for max G Rank stuff (like Awakened Kelbi Bow in 3U).

I'm using GS/Hammer/Switch Axe/Charge Blade so far, but I've also been keeping some Long Swords, SnS, Lance and Gunlance leveled up as I progress. Just haven't found any fights I would necessarily want to use them on yet, since you can still kind of bully your way thru Low/High rank and don't have to adjust for specific fights as much.

I also have the 2x slot kitty Dual Blades for my gathering set

KO King was never really that good of a skill to begin with and in 4U they nerfed the hammer KO values a bit so it's even less useful. If it was something like 20% I could see it being worth it but it's a measly 10% boost to KO damage.

Something I forgot to mention on Line was Weakness Exploit. Since you'll be attacking the face as Hammer pretty much all the time and like 90% of monsters have a major weakness on their head it adds a nice damage boost on any part that has a defense of 45+.

I started out with Switch Axe, as I had played it in Tri and 3U, but ultimately am going Insect Glaive. I was playing IG in the demo a lot and really enjoy it. Sometimes it's hard to get the right juices from the monsters youre fighting, but that's just part of the hunt.

Dex list that I can craft Adv Armor Sphere with Armor stones, but doesn't list where to find the Armor Stones

If it's anything like 3U it'll be from a DLC for the Wycoon where she will randomly sell them once you download it. Probably not able to get them yet either way.
