Thinking about picking up Hunting Horn for shits and giggles and take it online, because I rarely see any Horn users and it's a weird playstyle. Any tips on how to fight in groups? Song preferences people have? Just trying to break up the monotony that is Lance and Shield. Although a solid weapon, is pretty plain and vanilla.

^ fucking LOVE the Hunting Horn. It was my main in 3U. I would say aim for the Attack Up and Defense Up songs. Not sure how far you are, but the Seregios horn has great notes. Negate Stamina Use is another great buff if you have hammer users, bow users, SA users, anyone really but especially those that are more limited by stamina. As for actual group melee, think of yourself as a hammer user. You have tremendous damage output, and stagger faces, KO faces, break all kinds of shit up front with your HH.

Always have your movement buff active. It is a must. Learn when you can get away with playing songs right up in the monster's face too, as there is decent damage from a few of those combos and it is always pretty damned gratifying to buff everyone at the same moment you're KOing a Rathalos.

Ok yea just playing around with it I'm not up to Seregios horn yet I'm only HR2 but made myself a Kecha Whappa for healing and the standard bagpipe route for att/def buff. Remembering song combos is kinda difficult tho but again I've never played Horn before so this is kind of a new experience for me.

So is there a BG group that plays this together online? I'm almost finished with the village quests (on 9*), and will be taking my happy HR1 ass online soon, but I have no idea how the online play works. I'd like to run through the missions with good players though.

Doom set up a LINE chat group. Most of the guys are in G Rank at the moment; myself and Galois are lagging behind in HR6. If you hop in the chat we're usually talking about gear and stuff during the day and setting up lunchtime and evening hunts.

This is the LINE chat address. You have to download it on mobile before you can use it on your PC, but it's where we usually gather.

EDIT: Online play is basically someone sets up a Gathering Hall and you join it. One person selects the quest and the others go to the large board and can accept the quest the person has chosen. After that the people who did not select the quest go to the open door and indicate they're ready. When everyone is ready the one that got the quest can select to depart.

After that it's really just the same as anything else. The monsters have more HP and Attack, but with multiple people it generally goes quickly depending on the monster. In this iteration there are several offline quests that are linked to online hunter rank. Completing both online and offline is fairly important.

Well I don't see how the game can be pricier, suppose to be 39.99 normally (I don't think the copies are rare)

So I almost never did any Expeditions in the past, and I need to farm Savage Joe G rank I'm following this page here

    http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/MH4U:_Expeditions

    If I understood correctly

    1) Savage Joe doesn't appear in G rank Expedition and I can only get it on a Guild Quest?
    2) I need to kill either
    Deviljho
    Yian Garuga
    Oroshi Kirin
    Rajang

In a G rank Expeidition and hope that it drops the Guild Card?

    Or am i confusing stuff

Well, the Rare Eco G-rank expedition almost always has a savage joe in it, the level 97 Ruby Basarios guild quest I have sometimes has a Joe appear in it, and once or twice it has been savage and just obliterated my ass

Edit : Since some mob can only appear in Expedition after Certain quests.

Is there a List where i can see which mob I have unlocked for G rank expeditions?

I've never fought a Joe (Savage or otherwise) in G Rank quests and definitely had Savage eat my face off in expeditions.

I gotta get in on that line chat but I gotta catch up first, I'm still only HR2 and haven't had the time to play. Plus I always seem to get dragged along higher HR ranks of other people and I don't get the credit (although at least I get the mats so I'll take that) Also I learned the hard way not to face off against the Rathian in armor that gives me -fire resist. That ass basically took off half my health with one blast online. It was hilarious.

Cool, thanks. I'll check it out when I have the time.

In terms of the online, I've played multiplayer quite a bit on the PSP titles, both ad hoc and with Xlink Kai, I mostly was wondering if it's something where someone creates a lobby with a password or if you need to know each other's handle or whatnot.

Edit: Yeah; check it out, lol. Gamestop's outta copies right now and the amazon copy is $46.99, so yeah. They are running out of them it seems.

it says right there that it's out of stock at that price. "Temporarily out of stock" on amazon doesn't always mean "we'll have more soon"

you can check places like Target/Walmart. there's a few Targets near me that still have at least 1 copy in stock, so worth a shot. You can check online, don't have to go around to all the stores.

Things tend to have to be in stock in order to be able to buy and obtain them. Considering the subject of the conversation is someone trying to find and procure a copy of the game, one should intrinsically be able to deduce that the game needs to be in stock.
