    Regarding Mohran, his horn is broken through ballista alone in this game. If everyone focuses their ballista ammo on his horn it should break with plenty of time before the final showdown. Additional note on his blowhole, in the final showdown phase if you stagger his fins enough he'll fall down and you'll be able to climb up to the front part of his body where you can get a last chance to break it. Be aware though that it takes a while for his lumbering fat ass to get past the invisible wall of the zone so if go balls to the wall too soon he'll back up when you stagger him and you won't be able to climb up (or if you kill him you'll get no carves).

    Regarding Dalamadur, GS is really the best way to break his tail as otherwise the only time you'll get a good chance to hit it with other weapons is when you stun him and he flops to the ground. Depending on which position he was in when you stunned him his tail will usually be laid out on the ground opposite his head. You can make a Diablos set pretty easily with Focus Crit Draw and Sharp+1 specifically for Dalamadur GS runs. You don't really need defense for him as the only thing that should hit you are unlucky meteorites.

    Was finally able to track down a copy like 2 days ago. Just got into my first expedition and going through weapons and I've decided to stick with the gunlance. It's a lot of fun to me though I like the insect glaive as well. Is the gunlance a viable weapon if I decide to take it online in groups far in the future or should I pick up a more versatile weapon?

    I will start of by saying I have not played GL more than a few times so I can;t speak from experience. I also run into very few GL players online.

    From what I have seen in videos and read it is a very strong weapon to use. The main problem will be sending your teammates flying when you use Wyvernfire. I've read that the main point of attack is a slam attack from a ledge to ground the enemy, followed by a Wyvernfire. With a Wide type GL, which is what a lot of people gear for from my reading, you're going to send anyone in your vicinity flying. You'll have to try to be careful not to, but for the most part you should have an area of the mob you stick to and your teammates should know to avoid it.

    That being said, I'm sure the idiots online will just run into your line of fire anyway and then blame you for their stupidity. Though it doesn't take advantage of many attacks, it can be geared in a few different styles that allow for versatility. If it's a weapon you enjoy using, then play it. There's nothing wrong with any weapon.

    Bad gunlance players are infuriating, especially on smaller mobs like Kirin. Not that gunlance is a good idea for Kirin anyways imo, but that's a whole different story.

    I stopped caring about others in this version. Those CB and IB users don't give a hoot about anyone else. When I score a knock down, KO or paralyze I hardly ever get a hit because they knock me on my ass.

    I have a half ass Gunlance set built to mess around with, I really like the weapon, but I know how much it pisses people off in parties, so i'll just play support with my Kelbi bow ^^

    After picking up GL a bit and playing around with it, first, bring whetstones. Shooting a shell eats away at sharpness, regardless if you hit or not. Second, never, NEVER roll online with a wide range GL. It will do nothing but knock other players around and is generally just not worth it. Roll with a normal or long GL. Normal is good for bursts with 5 shells, Long is good for balance. Wide is more shell heavy but it increases the blast radius and has a high probability of making people just fly around. Third, Wyvern Fire away from people as best as you can. I try to stay away from most other people when I do it, but you're bound to get that 1 dumbass who see's the big shiny blue light coming from the tip and decides, "OH HEY, THAT LOOKS COOL, LEMME ROLL RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT~AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHWTFBBQSAUCE" Yea these people can not be helped. Fourth, more so if you decide to roll more normal shot, learn the different ways you can combo into bursts. They do a ton of damage for normal GLs. Also try to practice all 3 ways of reloading your GL. You can backstep-reload, shield-reload, or just 1-off shot-reload, and can combo into a burst. Lot's of different ways you can use that to your advantage.

    I feel I have officially ascended to godhood in the Gogmazios fight. Between myself and another player I met plus a random cycle of two others, went thru 5 Gogs that averaged 11 minutes a fight, the fastest being under 10. Didn't die once in any of the attempts either.

    The main thing with all of those attempts is that except for Dragonator/Demolisher, ignore all the weaponry except to pin Gog down when he goes to fly. Good weapons will do more then the Cannon or Ballistas, and it's not even close.

    Need second opinions. I've got all the materials for the Runiner's Bane SA: 810 Attack, 420 Blast, 10% affinity, 2 slots, Elemental phial, Purple sharpness.

    My other choices (that I have made) for SA are:
    Demolishers Axe: 864 Attack, 280 Blast, 1 slot, Power phial, white sharpness.
    Aksa Switch: 972 Attack, 10% Affinity, Power phial. Need a Dissenter and M. Tigrex parts for Aksa Switch+ which is 1080 attack, white sharpness.

    With the Ruiner's Bane I can slot in Honed Blade, Speed Sharpener, Evasion +1, Evade Extender because it has 2 slots. The others I would have to go with the generic Dala set with Evade Extender unless I farm for an evasion charm or something else to slot.

    Any opinions on which people think would be better? I'm kind of leaning towards the Runier's Bane with the evasion, evade extender set so that I don't need to farm Steve Dissenter. The same set can be used with my Gore IG, but any other SA or IG I would not get the evasion, evade extender set.

    Thanks for all the tips. Combo into the bursts is a lot of fun especially the overhead smash combo. The only thing I seem to be having trouble with is the dodging mechanic. I forget that you can roll so I'll always backstep or sidestep right into an attack unfortunately. I was playing the online missions with a friend and whenever I would use wyvernfire I warned them to run lol. Currently using a jaggi gun lance which is tearing monsters up so I feel like a badass.

    I made the mistake of not bringing whetstones into an expedition with me figuring I would rely on the ones I found around the starting area. They turned out to be mini whetstones so I had to sit there and whittle away at this really annoying fire shooting monster until it ran away. Thankfully I was able to get the drop for the evidence though.

    Following up with this post after some discussion on the chat.

    Here are the sets that would work with the other SAs. As mentioned in the chat, the Power Phials were nerfed a bit (5% less damage) as well as sword attacks in general (7% or so).

    Spoiler: show
    Ruiner's Bane SA: 810 Attack, 420 Blast, 10% affinity, 2 slots, Elemental phial, Purple sharpness
    Skull Visage (or anything with Torso Inc)
    Rebellion Mail
    Fatalis Crimsonclaws
    Nargacuga Faulds
    Tetsucabra Greaves S
    -----------------
    +6 Evade Dist, +2 Evasion OOO
    -----------------
    1x Jumping Jewel 1
    2x Evasion Jewel 2
    5x Grinder Jewel 1
    -----------------
    287-642 Def, 6 Fir, 2 Wat, -5 Ice, -6 Thn, -7 Drg
    Evasion +1
    Honed Blade
    Speed Sharpener
    Evade Extender

    Demolition Axe: 864 Attack, 280 Blast, 1 slot, Power phial, white sharpness.
    Aksa Switch: 972 Attack, 10% Affinity, Power phial, white sharpness (need more items to upgrade)
    Skull Visage (or anything with Torso Inc)
    Rebellion Mail
    Fatalis Crimsonclaws
    Ukanlos Cincture - Don't have
    Escadora Sheath - Don't have
    -----------------
    +6 Evade Dist, +2 Evasion OOO
    -----------------
    4x Grinder Jewel 1
    1x Jumping Jewel 1
    -----------------
    366-663 Def, 6 Fir, -1 Wat, -5 Ice, -8 Thn, -12 Drg
    Evade Extender
    Honed Blade
    Speed Sharpener

    The other option for the last two is to just go with the regular Dala mix set for Honed Blade, Razor Sharp, Speed Sharpener. The real question here is if the Ruiner's Bane purple sharpness, higher slime element, and the addition of evasion +1 make up for the elemental phial and lower damage.

    EDIT: Trying to track down more info on SA myself. Purple sharpness is 1.45x attack, white is 1.32. This means purple sharpness alone is a 13% increase. Gaijinhunter says attack specifically, so I'm going to say it isn't true raw. This would mean the following values for the SA attack:
    Ruiner's: 1174.5
    Demolition: 1140.28
    Aksa: 1283.04

    This puts Ruiner's ahead of Demolition until we put phials into play. If Power Phials add directly to the attack value, we're looking at a 20% increase for Demo and Aksa:
    Demolition: 1368.34
    Aksa: 1539.65

    True raw for each weapon would be the following:
    Ruiner's: (810/5.4)*.90+(810/5.4)*1.25*.1 = 153.175
    Demolition: 864/5.4 = 160
    Aksa: (972/5.4)*.90+(972/5.4)*1.25*.1 = 184.5

    Can sharpness be applied to raw in the same way affinity is? i.e.:
    Ruiner's = 153.175*1.45=222.10?
    Demolition = 160*1.32=211.2
    Aksa = 184.5*1.32=243.54

    Can we do the same with power phial?
    Ruiner's = 222.10*1=222.10
    Demolition = 211.2*1.2=253.44
    Aksa = 243.54*1.2=292.248

    EDIT 2: It seems to work for Demolition and it's probably safe enough to assume it works for the others for this condition. It turns out a little low for Ruiner's and Aksa because of the Affinity.

    So is 420 Blast, faster application from phial, and Evasion +1 making up for 71 Raw vs Aksa?

    Just going to point out that Steve SA is not very good. SA hits too much and does generally not roll often enough to keep that sliver of sharpness going. Without high sharpness maintained most of his weapons are just slightly below average raw with no elements.

    Yeah on the Aksa it's about 10 attacks worth of White, 20 with Razor Sharp. 5 evades to get it back to full. So every 20 attacks I need to do at least 5 evades. This seems doable until the monster goes down. With the Aksa Switch+ it looks like it'd be 20 attacks, 40 with Razor Sharp.

    EDIT: Ruiner's appears to be 20 attacks worth of purple w/o Razor Sharp as an fyi. I don't see that being much of a problem with speed sharpener, I'd just need a lot of whetstones (and I usually carry 20 anyway).

    The sharpness restoration is not a 100% chance, I'd probably guess closer to 30-40% from the time I used the GS.

    Logged all the sets I'm using in the game, both for personal satisfaction and if anyone wants some ideas on stuff to build.

    I have to rant about Dala and rather than start sending alerts to everyone's phones it's going to be here...

    Spoiler: show
    So after wasting half the day Saturday trying to find a competent group to do Dala I decided to just try to do it solo last night. All attempts I got it into final phase without too much issue. The first two times were obviously a little bit hectic because I was running around trying to break everything and lost focus each time.

    First attempt: Had just made the Ruiner's Bane SA and forgot to slot in the last Jumping Jewel for Evade Extender. Oops. Screwed my self over a few times thinking I'd roll of of range of meteors only to get caught at the edge of the blast radius. Got combo'd 2 times this way, Meteor into the bite or the fire breath as I was getting up. Perfect timing both times on Dala's part. Hit the 40 minute mark in the last phase and started trying to rush the kill. Got meteor'd into something and died. After the meteor I had 3/4 health left so I have no idea what happened.

    Second attempt: Mostly the same. I put the Jumping Jewel back in so didn't as many meteors other than from some accidental extra swings from mashing the button on the axe double sweep attack. Ran out of time this time trying to prevent myself from feeling rushed to finish and screwing up like the first attempt.

    Third attempt: I get him into final phase again. Hit about the 30 minute mark and my pinky hits the power button. FUCK. Fine, let's try again, that was going well.

    Fourth attempt: Doing really well. At final phase only having used about 5 Mega Potions. Hit the 40 minute mark, feeling good about where I am and hit the power button with my pinky again... It's a good thing I was sitting on the couch because I slammed the DS into the couch cushion and went to bed, leaving it there to think about what it's done; cursing the terrible power button placement.

    Fifth attempt: Picked it up this morning planning to get him into final phase and finish him off at lunch. Doing even better than the previous attempt; went through most of the first aid meds that were in the box, but who cares about those, right? Took some extra Barrel Bomb L+ with me this time in addition to the EZs they give you in the box. Broke the tail for the first time this run! Focused on that after breaking the claws and before the back. Turns out that worked out well; think the bombs on his back were helping to push him into final phase.Get the back no problem with the bombs and then move to the head. Finally he's in his final phase.

    Decided I didn't want to lose the momentum and just kept at him rather than heading to work immediately. Got a couple knockdowns after hitting his head with a jumping attack off the ledge which definitely added to the damage. 10 minute warning; holding steady. 5 minute warning; I start going into overdrive using mainly the sweeping axe swings between dodging the giant fireballs he shoots under his stomach. Then it happens HE FALLS. The only thing keeping me from screaming in triumph was the fact that the fiancee was still asleep and I live in a multifamily home. I don't think people would have appreciated it.

    Unfortunately I still need 2 more Dalam Pectus which means I'll have to kill him 2 more times unless I get a lucky carve. I did get his gem though which was a huge plus. Going to hope that I can find a group again because the solo thing takes too long at this point. I also realize Dragon element probably would have been better, but I had trouble keeping up red juice with IG and my Gore SA is still in the first phase.

    After that I'm going to have to get a gem from HR S Magala which I'm sure is going to be a splendid time.
