    Tablets - 2013

Well it's about that time of year when the big tablet push happens. I'm seeing a lot of Windows 8 tablets and android ones popping up in media outlets, and it's almost time for the iPad 5.

If you have an older iPad, now is the time to sell it for maximum profit. I'm looking to do so with my "The New Ipad" 3rd gen or w/e it is, and maybe pick something different up. I don't use it as much as I used to, but it still gets some use mostly through google drive from lecture notes and homework while at work.

What do you guys have or are planning to buy? Any recommendations? The new Windows 8 ones look pretty cool but I'm not too sure. I haven't even had the need to root my Galaxy 3 phone, so I'm not sold on the android models yet either.

I have a Nexus 10. My wife is thinking of getting a Nexus 7 second generation.

I love the 10, it's very sturdy and runs just about everything I want.

I am waiting now to see what Haswell brings, since the first round of Windows tablets mostly had abysmal battery life or very poor configurations.
I (and as a consequence, the company I work for) am looking for tablets that have sufficient specs. to work as a laptop replacement when docked, and a tablet when not.
Will want Windows 8 Pro with 4 GB ram, 128GB SSD, 4G, WiFi, reliable 6h+ of battery life and higher than 1366x768 resolution. If we can't get that, we'll stick to our laptops.
Being a company, we want a supplier that can execute repairs in our town, so we'll probably end up with HP or Dell if any of them can offer anything acceptable, but they are both notoriously shitty (at least in Norway) at delivering information early and creating good spec'ed solution.
We tried contacting Dell to ask what they were planning, they haven't gotten back to us yet. Our HP reseller said "We'll have something in 3rd Quarter 2013".
(we want them to work with the rest of our IT-infrastructure)

Needless to say, if we thought we had better options, we'd go for them, but starting to send stuff across the country etc. isn't an option.
Privately, I'm looking forwards to seeing what Samsung comes up with to replace 700T(1C)

I'm a bit interested in the next iPad. The iPad mini is amazing because it's so light weight, if the full sized iPad can be anywhere near that I'm sold.

I'm also interested in the 2nd gen Nexus 7. My Asus TF300T feels so sluggish nowadays...

I'm keeping an eye out for the newly announced ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity (Android) and the ASUS Transformer Book Trio (Android + Windows 8).

tbh Asus has to proof they have fixed their IO bottleneck issues in their transformer series before I'd buy one again... (returned the Transformer Prime, and stuck with the TF300T which I regret)

I just got the lenovo lynx win 8 tab and keyboard dock for under $400. It's definitely not perfect, but it's amazing how refreshing it is to have a tablet with full pc functionality. It has a junk app store, but who needs an app store when you can get actual programs...

The first time it really hits you is when you want to transfer files and realize that you can just network or plug your phone/HDD directly into the tablet instead of needing a PC middleman.

I really like it, except for the video. The screen isn't amazing and it can't handle much in terms of games. Plus, anything other than IE for a browser has flash player issues and glitches.

But, I have office on there so it counts as a work expense!

Continued praise for my Win 8 tab. Got a blutooth mouse for it that works flawlessly with no cumbersome usb input receiver. Really a great PC for internet and Office on a small screen with instant on access. I will never go back to restricted access platforms like android or ios. Can't wait for a win 8 phone that isn't just the metro interface to upgrade to.
