Creating a Competitive Server Environment for 2.0

So yeah, as I was writing a post I realized I'm probably talking out of my ass based on some very raw numbers and a lot of assumptions. Without knowing the number of NA vs JP accounts on any given server, it's hard to really tell what is going to happen. So yeah, can probably mostly disregard that thought really since it assumes an awful lot about regional distribution. ><

When I said catching up I kind of assumed that there would be a similar number of JPs leaving each server, leaving the population totals of each proportionate, thus a fairly disproportionate number of NAs coming from the JP servers would have to choose Excalibur/Hyperion for them to overtake Sargatanas. And yeah, that's probably not the case the more I think about it, especially since when they did the first merge several JP communities tried to congregate on a few servers, and I don't remember which they were.

My little group of 10 were on Masamune so i'm also trying to watch the forums to see where my bg friends will be playing. My little group is trying to leave our XI ways behind and not butt heads with shells but we are super competitive (I don't see that being an issue in 14 "You got DL gear, ah fuck you". Is Hyperion a new servers or was it around for 1.0, was leaning towards that one for no particular reason, but it seems that a lot of people are going Excalibur.

Just my two cents on Sarganatas. While it looks like its the most populated I can tell you the NA endgame scene was kinda... pathetic. I can think of at least 2-3 LS's that broke because they couldnt beat Ifrit X for 2-3 months and subsequently gave up (took my LS about 1 week). While we were the strongest NA only LS we werent THAT hardcore - most of our playtimes were in the 8-12pm range and thats where we got everything done. Meanwhile the JPs here were elite as fuck with entire LS's full of quadruple melded gear in every slot

Yea every server lost good ls's, people just stopped playing. Every ls i was in in 1.0 had some kind of schedule most of us aren't 16-19 playing 24/7 anymore. I liked our 8-12pm it was enough to get stuff done I wish we went longer some nights but it is what it is was still #1 on the server. However a lot of good ls's on the server stopped playing to wait for 2.0 so i wouldn't go as far as calling the whole server weak sauce for not playing a broken game 24/7. Come ARR all the elite jp ls's will be gone some good na ls's coming back, should have lots of room if everybody and their mother plans to cram Excalibur lol

We personally define "hardcore" as having a competitive mindset and wanting to play to the best of your ability alongside others who also want to play to the best of their ability.

1.0 / 2.0 drama is so weak. I miss disbanding alliances with E Body in pool at Nid and hiding Sandworm on the peak of Zegham Hill for 2 hours.

I think these bad reputations you speak of are more hype than anything else. I can't speak for them specifically but I heard quite a few bad things about myself as well as my linkshell while playing on an alt.

It's amazing how a minor dispute between two people over an insignificant matter can become a fight that somehow turns into a feud that later becomes an international conflict.

I ended up making a few diehard "fans" in 1.0 that would drag my name through the mud any chance they could.
I know for a fact one of them stemmed from theorycrafting about INT/MACC on Ifrit (hard). Got to had it to this guy he kept on hate'n till the servers went down.

PS: my linkshell is still deciding on a server. Some seem to fear Excalibur and all it's Holiness due to the sheer amount of established endgame shells planning on moving here.

Hard to say about that but I doubt any self proclaimed "Strongest NA" ls was really even in the top 5 despite mud slinging.

Most of the people on that list aren't with that ls anymore. 2nd "you guys" I'm not in Syzygy, 3rd as i said before all the good ls's either left or waiting for ARR so being the strongest doesn't really mean anything if their really aren't people around.

I've got a feeling a lot of people are going to be disappointed with the transfers. There's so many linkshells planning a transfer to Excalibur, even EU based ones. It's highly likely I'm going to be on there.

Hyperion was 1.0 and is where I'm at. :3

We've officially decided on Excalibur for retail, but we'll primarily be on Durandal for phase 3 with our old characters.
