The game will ONLY use dedicated servers, for both Customs and Matchmaking. No P2P shenanigans. Hopefully this extends to Co-op too but we'll have to wait and see I guess.

http://news.xbox.com/2015/03/games-h...bullet-trailerFans who tuned into last night’s episode of “The Walking Dead” on AMC got a world-premiere look at the new teaser trailer for Halo 5: Guardians. Next week, during the show’s season finale, the world premiere of the official live-action trailer will provide a first glimpse at the intriguing story of one of the year’s most anticipated games – launching exclusively on Xbox One this fall.
The teaser, entitled “Bullet,” is now available online. Eagle-eyed fans can slow down and study the new video, frame-by-frame, to discover ominous new clues about the fate of the legendary Master Chief.
Building on Halo’s expansive universe and rich tradition of storytelling, Xbox and 343 Industries also launched “Hunt the Truth” – an episodic narrative audio series, now available on the Hunt the Truth Tumblr. The series stars Keegan-Michael Key (“Key and Peele”) as Benjamin Giraud, a war-journalist who slowly unearths startling new revelations about who the Master Chief really is, forcing listeners to reevaluate what they really know about humanity’s greatest hero. Episodes will be released each week via Tumblr and syndicated across multiple podcast platforms for 12 weeks, leading up to E3 in June 2015.
Get hyped motherfuckers:
Get even more hyped motherfuckers:
Is that the infinity burning above the planet?
Holy fucking shit I am hyped.
Ive always enjoyed the story and lore of Halo.
The fact that this game is seeming so story heavy so far is giving me an erection
As someone who only really played the games I didn't realize how fucking gigantic halo's lore is. I spent most of my night reading the Halo Lore Thread on neogaf where people are digging through the terminals ingame, the books and comics to piece everything together. It's really fucking interesting.
For example, I didn't know the Escalation comic is basically season 2 of spartan ops in Halo 4. It tells us the events of what happened after the events of Halo 4. I don't want to buy an Xbone just to play Halo 5 but fuck I might have to shell out for it.
I get the impression by now that you don't play through the campaign if you haven't read the books and shit. If you don't have the patience for that, then you probably just go straight to deathmatch as soon as you unwrap the game.
I read the first six books a few years back, and finally played Halo 4 last year with a friend, and it was some nonsensical bullshit. I can't imagine someone doing campaign 1-3 and then playing 4 and understanding what the fuck is going on.
The campaigns stand on their own but you will definitely benefit from reading the books, most of which are pretty good in their own right. The Forerunner trilogy especially.
I'm sorry, but what? I remember reading (trying to anyway..) the original three books way back when Halo originally came out and they were so poorly written.
I love the Halo franchise, but Bungie (and by association, 343) has never been exceptional storytellers (and the corresponding ramifications for expectations regarding Destiny's story is another discussion altogether..). I mean, just look at how 343 talked about Halo 4 before its release. They said they wanted to create a more personalized game which humanized the Chief. Yes, his interactions with Cortana did that a little (although I'd argue that we got a better look into Cortana than the Chief..). However, his other interactions were either Del Rio, who treated him like an outdated war relic and didn't want him doing anything, or Lasky and Palmer, who idolized him (Palmer was especially bad if you played Spartan Ops..). The Halo franchise deserves a lot of praise, but storytelling is really not one of them.
Beyond that though, I have issues with the way 343 is taking Halo's story. There are things they've had to change and rewrite to make it fit better with the narrative they want to tell. And adding in all those terminals to Halo CE and Halo 2 to create that story is a shitty way of doing it, imo.
