Remember, XBone gets all DLC a month ahead.
I haven't decided if I'm going to get this at launch. I still need to grab JC3 and Mad Max at some point.
It's similar to the Pandemic games.
As of the Open Beta, the game runs better on PS4 with minimal frame drops, but the XBone version has noticeable drops.
Early copies are out in the wild, so details are slowly trickling in. PS4 version requires a 40GB install off of the disc and The Dark Zone can handle up to 24 players at a time.
Ugh I knew I should have waited and got the 1TB PS4![]()
Debating on getting a ps4, so I can have people to play this with
Do it. Become one of us.
So I'm legit looking into a ps4, any suggestions on best sites for deals? I know it's off-topic, so we can take it to PM if you want. have a couple other questions as well
Probably just shop around the usual sites, or try checking the ps4deals subreddit.
I am going to pick this up since all the other games I've got recently were massively disappointing. I don't know jack about this game. WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW!?

Well, I guess a few points would be...
It's a cover-based 3rd person shooter like Gears is/was so a lot of the movement can be done cover to cover, leaping over cover, and of course regular movement and running.
It's set up in a "zone free" sort of way where they hide the loading through short cutscenes and transition areas (like the shop entrance to the Dark Zones or the decon tent into your base of operations). The drop system is similar to any other RPG; mobs can drop gear, items, and/or money. Gear has varying levels of rareness just like most other RPGs as well.
I think the biggest thing to know is that the level of your character, and thus your skills and perks, are completely separate from your Dark Zone (PVP) rank. In order to unlock various skills and perks you need to level up your character in the PVE side of the game while collecting credits for each wing of your base to upgrade your skills. The exp you get in the Dark Zone goes directly to your DZ rank. Your DZ rank will open up new equipment you can use and buy using DZ credits, but these items may still have a level restriction on them.
I have a feeling a lot of people may rush into the DZ to try to get some of the DZ weapons, but I believe that will hurt them in the long run as they will not have many skills available and may be locked out of the better equipment.
The game is not cross-platform play enabled, which kind of sucks imo. The PVE missions can be done solo or through matchmaking depending on your preference. You can also change the difficulty of the missions, though when I tried in Beta to see what the difference would be I was unable to change it during the test. The missions can be repeated and at least some reward equipment upon completion. This includes when you repeat them as well.
In addition to the missions, there are also side missions, "event" encounters, collectibles, locked/treasure areas, and named NPCs. The side mission they gave us in Beta was just like most other quests. The collectibles are things like cell phones, a drone (not sure if there are multiple), and other things like files.
There also seems to be some special collectibles/bounty sort of things; one for each of the wings in your base of operations. There's something called "missing agents" that you can track, that drone was part of one of the other wings, and there are probably more.
The premise of the game is fairly simple. Complete the missions and side missions to level up. Complete the encounters (small-scale battles with NPCs) to earn credits (supplies?) towards the upgrade of your base unlocking new skill upgrades. Go into the DZ to rank up in PVP earning new gear along the way. There are a multitude of named NPCs in the Dark Zone. I'm not sure if the number outside the DZ will increase, but there were far more in the DZ than in the PVE areas.
I kind of rambling typed this all out. I'm sure other people could build/clarify some of the things.
Oh, and for the drone captues, you need to shoot the drones. Took me a good 10 minutes of trying to figure out how to climb up to it before getting frustrated and just shooting it which led to the completion.
If I missed the Beta, is there another way to try this game before buying? like a demo or something?
