I have two pairs of the gloves... Can't bring myself to deconstruct the second pair, but probably should.

Warren Gate is definitely the fucking worst. Probably won't bother trying to do Challenge later.

Edit: Here's a direct quote for those unable to watch the source.
"Protection from Elites is not working as intended. Right now, it does the opposite. If you're wearing Protection against Elite, you're actually taking more damage rather than less damage."
    Followed by:
"Protection against Elites - don't put it on your character, if you can."
Edit 2: He then continued to say that it will be fixed "very, very soon".
    Lol of course it is

I'll roll with people just over 140 if they don't seem like retards. And that's on rare occasions. Anything lower than that is just idiocy and people trying to cut corners to get shit.

I put up with it for like 30-40 minutes before we got to the last boss of Warren Gate and neither could survive for any period of time.

It wouldn't be so bad if they used the support station for skill CD and resources with the flashbang launcher, but they both used the seeker mines with airburst.

Didn't have another 15inutes to waste going through the waves of enemies again and had to log. Was a very unproductive day for me.

Encountered the God mode thing last night actually. A manhunt rogue teleported up to me and stood in front of me. Emptied a clip into his face, then he exercised, then one-shotted me. I said "fuck it" and went to do then non-DZ assignments instead.

They're supposed to be on a cycle. So we have to wait until it come around again.

Made the Striker's knee pads last night, so now I have 3/4 Striker's and 180GS. Went into the DZ to do the DZ daily before logging out and it was swarming with exploiters/hackers. One guy killed two rogues in front of me in two shots, so I'm guessing God Mode.

A second guy I saw a couple times. the first time he suddenly appeared in front of me while I was clearing the Refueling Station and cleaned up everyone that was alive in a matter of 1 to 2 seconds, did a few jumping jacks, then disappeared completely. Saw him again when I was claiming a supply drop. Got downed by someone that came up behind me, he suddenly appeared and killed them, then revived me and let me take the supply drop.

At least they weren't dickheads, just killing rogues and clearing PvE, but it was kind of annoying still because none of the named guys were up. Gave up after I got my cleaner kills.

That's the exact kind of experience that's pushing me away from staying invested in this game. I love it, but man, it's fucked up.

I decided to attempt an Incursion last night. Got to wave 15, leader booted everyone. Why is this even possible?

So State of the Game hit, not sure why I expected more info but it was largely lackluster. Cheating is bad, exploiting is bad, they need a client side patch for a number of issues, next client side patch is 1.2 and it's already been submitted, and absolutely 0 info on the weapon re-balancing or whats coming in 1.2. On the fucked up side, their hot fix today has introduced killer ladders! Apparently if you stand near some ladders in the game for a few seconds then try and use them, the game downs you.

On the interesting side, one of their server engineers/sorta kinda community guys has been laying out lots of info that I can't imagine Ubi is kosher with him saying. Can check his account at u/dijit. Spoilered a few choice posts for large in case they get taken down.

    Spoiler: show
    Best one first:

I'm not on the customer care team unfortunately, I'm not an "official" representative of Massive publicly, I'm one of the guys who works on the gameservers.
What I would say though is leave it another week (3 weeks) and come back, by then 1.2 will drop and things will see a somewhat larger improvement overall. Shitty thing to say, I'd rather people played the game, but realistically this is the first time we can touch the code running on your PC/Console, and that is a limiting factor for a lot of our updates.

There are false positives, we can't (and shouldn't) remove $60-$100 because we can't be 100% sure of hacking.
a player report + mining data is a very strong indicator of foul play.
Much more than "the computer says so" because there are bugs with any system, and there are "bugs" with human perception.
but combined? it's significantly less likely.
Well, sure, I have the names, I have the accounts and I have access to the database, I could ban everyone if I wanted to.
I was told specifically not to, (and to stop banning people I found on youtube/this subreddit), so someone somewhere is scared.

Valve is not us though, unfortunately, and I cannot speak with any authority on what is legal and what is not, I just know I what I was told, I work with code/servers, not law.
Don't be sorry, it's not an excuse.
This is what I am told by the Live Producer and the Online Producer, who have been told by ubisoft legal.
I have no reason to believe they are lying to me, but I guess you have to take my word on that.
"Trust, but verify" that's how we're able to have so many players on a server.
Doing all the raycasting and stuff on the server would end with a very choppy horrible experience, since it would have to render a 'frame' and send it back to you--- 60FPS would not only be impossible, you'd be talking around 10FPS. No matter what hardware.
Not trying to be facetious, this is just the nature of highly networked gameservers.
I'm not talking graphical frames, to do hit detection you need to render a "3d map of the world" or, calculate it, so you can know about bullet velocity and impact range and stuff like this.
A good example of the work involved and why verification is cheaper is public/private key cryptography, for you to generate a private key, is easy, but for me to derive the private key you used is difficult, expensive, (in the case of pub/priv encryption it's actually supposedly impossible). But verifying that you used a private key with a public key is actually incredibly cheap by comparison. (this is probably a bad analogy if you understand the outside information of cryptography but not applied mathematics or algorithms).
Generating a "world" where the server tells your game "the state of the world" and your client cannot "think" for itself would tie the world to being generated by the server, a server frame is generated about once every 100ms, so.. 10FPS, this is because the server has to render the entire universe each frame in order to do the detection of multiple elements.
it's /currently/ 10FPS, even with all the heavy optimisation which is causing development to slow down, now imagine it has to render every single 3d element in the world, Manhattan, for 1,000+ people, NPCs, objects which are destructed.
You can't say "put it all in the server", because there is a line at some point, the line was drawn in a place where we chose speed of the client over security of the gameserver, which was a mistake for PC players, evidently, but that's how you get sweet 60FPS with little/no server lag.
The initial plan was to have a heavy handed ban policy, but this wasn't communicated with HQ's lawyers who have put a stop to it. We're trying to figure it out, but this was our "political solution to a technical problem"
As for the DDoS attacks, there is a way of turning off VOIP entirely, we don't want people to go heavy handed with relaying through our servers, it harms performance of voip a fair amount and obviously increases load on the servers and we feel that if we add an option like tha to the game people will just hit that button "just because".
P2P VOIP shouldn't be such issue in my opinion, given that there are so many peer2peer entire games available which are PVP.
    Currently, not legally.
I don't know if the lawyers can do something about it, they are not stationed at Massive and I never have reason to speak with them anyway.
But it's something Yannick is pushing for, and me too, actually.

I understand your frustration, that's why I'm compelled to comment.
Thanks for playing though and being a member of the community, we're making moves to get as much sorted as we possibly can for 1.2, since that's the next time we can touch the stuff on your console, 1.3 will see "everything" fixed, because we'd already submitted 1.2 to Sony/Microsoft before some of the latest bugs were found.
I hope you understand our position, we like our fans, we like our game, we'll try to do the right thing but our communication has been a bit poor because the communication people have made some mistakes and are now under fire :\
Nope, they pass it along to the live operations team, who the verify the validity, corroborate it with data we have about players cheating (because we log things you're not supposed to be able to do), and if the player was cheating (and not just skilled) we try to get the email of the player, since legally we can't ban someone without emailing them.
    then we email and ban.
However there is a more proper, correct, communication incoming because as you can imagine this is a long, tedious and manual process, and there are more cheaters than can be dealt with, so we're doing something about it.

I don't actually have any visibility on what customer support is doing.
I know for a fact that they check the names of the reportees against a database where we log "impossible events", whether video is needed or not is up to them I guess.
Personally I've been known to flout the law and ban people for life if I find youtube videos of them cheating, but I'm sure doing this will get be fired or sued one day. We should really follow policy, no matter how stupid it is. (at least until we can change it)
    Noooooooooooo
I'm not supposed to talk to you guys, I'm not an official representative or anything I'm just trying to give you guys a little more insight as to how things work and why everything seems strange and alien.
it's not that we don't love you, we do, and I'd like to let you know about it.

Yannick stands with us in the live operations daily meeting.
He's easily the best qualified person to talk to everyone, however there's a lot of legal things that need to be smoothed over every time he speaks because "he is the voice of ubisoft". (or at least in this case).
It's weird how political you have to be to avoid opening yourself up to legal issues or even shareholder issues. Yannick and Hamish have gone through training which basically beats the personality out of your words so that "cover your ass" mode is always engaged.
I've seen it a lot with other people who speak to the public, Yannick and Hamish aren't so far gone, but this is the nature of public speaking unfortunately. And it's the reason I seem so candid, I am not so constrained.

TL;DR: Server guy that hasn't had the training to 'cover his ass' is going in to great detail about processes. PC banning seems like it will never be a thing because of some legal Ubi bullshit, and they actually stepped in and made them stop banning people. Server guy says leave the game and come back in 3 weeks (1.2 landing) and "all issues" will be fixed in 1.3, though quotes likely used because he knows there's plenty of other fuck ups.

The whole can't have server run the world or we'd have 9-10FPS thing is strange to me and doesn't really make sense for why they gave the client so much power.

PS sorry for poor editing, fuck sinking in time to copy reddit accurately.

Edit: In the time I posted this, he's commented like 8 more times lol. Some choice extras:

It seems really bizarre to me that you can't just ban players without emailing them. I assume it's probably part of the ToS somewhere, but man I wonder how this particular comment is going to change how players look at developers. I can only imagine that we will now hit a point where players boycott games because the ToS put in place doesn't give the company the power to just ban people arbitrarily and immediately.

DijitMassive [score hidden] 18 minutes ago
    Yep, it's fucking retarded.
    Makes me legitimately angry.
concurrent, the gameserver knows what you did, but 200ms after the fact.
MarvinMcNut [score hidden] 32 minutes ago
With all due respect, this is just lip service. the OP and the numerous other posts about cheaters both on here and other forums are proof that you are not doing nearly enough.

DijitMassive [score hidden] 29 minutes ago
I agree actually, if you read my other posts I talk a little more about it, although I shouldn't and I'll shut up now.
BrightEmbers 7 points 2 hours ago
    Just a quick question.
You said you can't legally ban someone if you can't email them.
If I create an email to sign up and play, then delete that email, forcing a failed delivery notice, does that mean I could potentially cheat forever and there's nothing that you can do about it?

DijitMassive 25 points 2 hours ago
No, we can't legally ban someone if we don't email them.
Whether or not it arrives is irrelevant
, we attempted the delivery of an email to the address supplied by the user, as long as we prove that, we're golden.

Kalikovision64Tech Cannon [score hidden] 12 minutes ago
Out of curiosity... why is that legal/illegal? By what law? (in what country?) That seems really strange that you have to email someone that they broke the rules. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm glad you aren't waiting for a response and still going through with it. Just curious what law that is

    DijitMassive [score hidden] just now
So, Ubisoft operates on a "world wide legal" basis, we follow all laws from all countries on a global scale.
so some country disallows immediate permanent ban, 15 days is the time period we have to delay from a first offence to a permanent ban.

f3cuk [score hidden] 9 minutes ago
Appreciate the updates! Do you know if you guys are legally allowed to reset character on a first time offense? If so, is this something you are considering?

DijitMassive [score hidden] 3 minutes ago
I believe that's akin to banning, but I can ask. :>
    I like it!
Also while your answering questions, theres a story going round that you patched a lot of stuff serverside to stop memory injection for rpm etc. The story also goes that it was brought back clientside with 1.1. Bad code merge?

DijitMassive [score hidden] 2 minutes ago
we believed we had a "better fix" in 1.1, but we were mistaken, it should have been caught in QA, but QA do not use cheat tools.
WinterblissPC [score hidden] 49 minutes ago
The one thing I don't understand, is the parity between console and PC. Currently, the PC is suffering from hackers/modders. The console is suffering from people abusing ingame mechanics/glitches. Surely you can patch the PC version at a priority since that is where the cheating is predominantly occuring.

DijitMassive [score hidden] 12 minutes ago
    This is hard to explain actually;
The game client has to maintain parity with the game server, when we release a "title update" the branch of code gets "locked" and is only patched/maintained from a server perspective. The game lives on and is actively worked on.
Every so often something happens which causes us to pull code from the mainline, to fix a problem, or if it's really bad and requires a client fix- new code is written against the (now old) gameserver.
In order to give PC players a new game client, it would mean putting all fixes on the server too, keeping it closer to mainline, this is added branches, added QA, added testing in general, and we'd have to manually pull out all the DLC content before putting it in the hands of players (which could introduce bugs by itself). I did ask this question before and it basically came down to "it's very expensive from a time/human point of view to do all this work for very little gain, and eventually they will reach parity anyway- we should focus all our effort on making the game better/bugfree and keep everything in parity always"
Might not appease everyone, I'm sure, but that's the truth.
