If anyone is going to be on PS4 in the next hour or so I'd be down to play
I'm considering trying a bit of DZ tonight, though I've heard it's still a shitfest in there

Ohright, ps4 has to wait a month, right?
Yeah, survival for PS4 is December.
1.5 Update hits PS4 today, but the Survival mode itself is still not going to be available. For anyone still playing, I've got a few tips for Survival.
I strongly suggest getting a purple weapon before entering the DZ. You'll need to get Div Tech in order to craft the HE weapons in the DZ hideouts. I usually try to find some Div Tech in the contaminated areas or areas with Purples rather than yellows. The other option is to use your free Div Tech from getting the anti-virals to make your first HE weapon. You just run the risk of your Antivirals being in an area guarded by Yellows.
Craft the M44 sniper rifle from the DZ hideouts. It's a beast; it can two shot the Hunters even without good talents on it. Also, craft two Extended Magazines (Green) from the first hideouts. They're the only Extendeds you can get as far as I know. I don't know if any drop, but there are no other blueprints for them in the other Hideouts.
I usually milk the time, but you can definitely enter the DZ with all blue equipment and a purple weapon. I usually wander for a while and farm up the LZ so that I can craft 2-3 HE pieces when I first enter the DZ. I usually start with Holster and Kneepads.
If you want to farm Survival for gear, do PvE. Some people may like the competition aspect of PvP, but if you're really just trying to get gear, farm 6 Survival Caches from the Landmark bosses. They have a chance to drop the Named equipment (Barret's Vest, Skull MC Gloves, Ferro's Mask, NinjaBike Backpack, Bliss' Holster, Shortbow Pads), weapons, and gear set pieces.
Craft both virus filters before entering the DZ; some of the areas you'll want to run through require the advanced filter and it's easier to find Blue crafting mats in the LZ.
The turret is a fucking boss in the DZ, just make sure you don't place it somewhere a Hunter can get to it when you're trying to extract. Not only does it draw aggro, suppress enemies, and deal (little) damage, but if you get rushed you can just drop it on the ground and the enemies will melee it before going for you.
Ballistic shield is a decent skill that can save you from having to use too much ammo for your better weapons. It also allows you to take on harder enemies than you normally would at the start of the game. I would suggest one person get the shield if you're duoing, but skip it if you're solo.
The police stations generally have a large bag with a ton of ammo plus some other drops (gear/supplies). If you can find one, or get to it first, it helps a lot in the long run.
There is a lot of loot on the train tracks west of Amherst's Apartment where you'd find Strings in the normal LZ. Each end of the tracks has loot boxes with supplies and gear, plus there is a purple Rioter. You should go through all the passages at either end. After doing so, you'll probably be pretty much ready to go to the DZ.
If someone dies in PvE, go loot their shit. I feel like not enough people take advantage of the people that die. I played one round of Survival last night for 1hr 53mins because I was just wandering and farming; picking up everyone else's shit when they died. I think Painkillers only lasted about 5 seconds, and Medicines maybe 30 by the time I extracted.
You don't have to rush to extract. Make sure you get full HE gear and at least Primary and Secondary. Not only does it increase your score (there's a gear score category), it also makes the Hunters a joke. In that game last night, I was 4th to extract and the last person left in the instance (it said 1 Player Remaining). That tells you how successful most people are at this game mode.
Played a lazy game again last night. I was the last person left again and 3rd to extract in 1hr 37mins. Take your time and get your caches; don't rush the DZ before you're ready.
I ended up having a nightmare of a weekend so I didn't get to play this again yet. Hoping soon. Survival sounds fun, though I'm not too keen on dropping more $$ on this game.
Ah. I was a sucker and got the season pass. Got it on Amazon after playing the Beta, so I got 20% off since I have Prime.
It is fun though. If you see me on, hit me up. I'm usually either doing LZ bosses, HVTs, or Survival. I can run through other stuff too if you need some more Gear Score. I haven't played any rounds with a partner. Would make it more interesting as we'd both need materials, but it'd also be easier to kill NPCs.
It's sooooo easy to get your GS up now too. They made some great progress on the loot.

Played for a while tonight without buying the Survival DLC.
The loot does seem much improved. I found a main weapon upgrade pretty quickly, in spite of having searched for weeks before the changes. Also had several rando guys just drop set stuff at GS 229. I like the changes to how loot drops, with setting your world tier and so on. I still have two GS 204 pieces so I need to upgrade those before I can go to world tier 5 and higher for higher GS.
Seems like good improvements all around, though I've only just dabbled.
I'll run you through Tier 5 LZ Named guys if you catch me on. I screwed up my Alphabridge Holster last night; rolling Stam rather than armor because I wasn't paying attention. Need to keep farming for another one.
Still trying to figure out what set to run as a "main." Didn't get to try out the Alphabridge yet, but I also have a Predator/Striker set, and a mixed set with no bonuses to activate Skull MC Gloves. With the no bonuses set, my sniper is at around 650k DPS if I remember right. My DPS with my G36 and FAMAS hang around 300-350k DPS depending on if I'm using Predator/Striker or Alphabridge/Striker.
Also need to farm up Lexington Challenging for Barrett's Bulletproof Vest.
Anyone looking to farm some larae lmk. ive lost count on how many fails ive had at getting her armor. i am absolutely loving this DNC build with dual smg (ammo control) this shit makes me so happy for pve. now if only you could switch to gd hand gun for coolheaded D:
It'd be so broken if you could switch to your pistol. Not that they haven't made broken builds before.
Fellas I'm thinkin about picking this up to play with my childhood buddy I grew up with. We live like 600 miles apart now so gotta play online, and he mostly just plays shooters so I can't get him into like monster hunter and shit.
I got a few questions about this game, like is it basically you can jump in and immediately team up with a friend and complete the missions like Destiny? Or do you need to go through like a tutorial set of missions and then eventually you can team up? Is it all open world etc?
Just need to know the quick dynamics.
There's a tutorial, but it's quick. Then you can team up the whole time. It's mostly just doing missions, side missions, and encounters to hit level 30.
Does anyone play on pc? Recently bought this for half off after playing through a free weekend.
Wondering what is the best way to deal with trash loot. Is it generally sold at vendors or broken down into crafting components?
I play on PC. Haven't been on in a bit with holidays, but I usually pop on a few times a week. OttomanRob is my UPlay name.
If you're below level 30 I'd deconstruct everything. After level 30 sell a few bags of trash loot until you have a few million credits, then deconstruct some more and repeat as needed.
You'll want credits for refilling weapon and armor talents. You'll need some materials for daily crafting goals and for mods and things.
