Post E3: Which are you buying?

Yeah I'm happy with my gaming rig so I'm not planning on buying a next gen console, but when ps4 gets some more amazing exclusives I may consider it. Would definitely be ps4 if I bought one of them.

Seriously though, if I wanted a shitty computer with controllers I'd buy a Dell and a USB controller. The only thing consoles have going for them anymore is exclusive games. As a platform they have nothing to offer.

Isn't that all they ever had going for them? And isn't that kind of a big deal when it comes to gaming?

My SNES offers out of the box functionality in under ten seconds. Zero configuration, zero patching, zero fuss. Plug that shit in and start playing. Consoles now just offer a muddled PC experience with the addition of a controller and whole host of additional bullshit to deal with. They used to be dedicated gaming machines, now they're just inferior PCs.

Exclusives are artificial value. We've seen time and again that games can and are created to play on both consoles and PCs, so what benefit is there to restricting it to consoles? What do we as consumers gain from that? The only thing I can think of is coding the whole game to a specific hardware architecture so it's presumably optimized better. That alone doesn't sell the notion to me, especially when the game is then released on multiple consoles which have different hardware.

Will get a PS4 eventually. Joining master race soon, which I have a large steam backlog of "Barely playable on my current rig. God damn Steam sales/bundles!" games I'm wanting to play through which should last me quite a few months.

Also all the shit PS+ threw at me in recent months that I want to play through.

I would hope they'd just stick to the one SKU this time around, at least for the launch year. Simplifies everything for both consumers, retailers, and the manufacturers. No getting stuck with the bottom-tier model because the rest sold out.

I didn't know that XV was going to be exclusive to the PS4. Hmm... is there only going to be one version of the PS4? I'm shocked the price is low. I was expecting the next gen consoles to easily reach somewhere between $500-$600.

I already purchased a Ps4 last night, but I am getting an Xbox One as well. I have more hype for the PS4 by a landslide though. That FF 15 trailer was just too damn good.

Master Race is awesome and all, and I have 2 great rigs, but the console-exclusive games are well worth it.
