Not a bad deal at all consider how much people are itching for the adapter.
Well, to be honest, unless you're solely looking to have a controller that you've used for years to continue playing with, it's probably not worth going out of your way. Here's the differences between GC Brawl, GC S4, and Pro S4:
GC Brawl:
- Cstick input doesn't halt motion
- Cstick never causes neutrals if set to Smash (default)
- Cstick will sometimes cause jumps if set to Attack (also known as 'tiltstick') if buffered in a strange way, instead of an attack
- Cstick input doesn't fail in any kind of delay/lag
- Tiltstick causes dair input to not cause fast fall! (Great for spikes)
- Tiltstick causes diagonal Cstick input to do neutrals (ground and air), meaning you can always do a neutral without halting motion (I use a different Jump button (Z))
GC S4:
- Cstick input halts motion when set to Smash (default) unless you instantly let go of the stick after the input is taken
- Cstick will sometimes make you do neutrals in the air when set to Smash (I still can't figure out the reason; it's only happened online though)
- Cstick set as Tiltstick does not cause jumps ever
- Lag or delay online will often make Cstick input not work AT ALL even for 10-15 frames after the lag/delay stopped
- Same thing about Dair+diagonals
Pro S4:
- same thing about motion+smash
- I haven't noticed the neutral problem while set to smash
- I haven't noticed the failed input problem online
- everything else is the same
My only issue w/ the pro controller is the position of the c-stick rly. Otherwise I've no issues w/ it
Tempted to try out a pro controller just for shits n giggles, but gotta buy one first.
Gotta wii u and smash/mario kart for me and the wife for xmas. My NNID is Leftover_Chicken I am really really bad. Like your 6 yr old niece bad. But add me for hilarity. Only played Brawl for like 30 min w ryko, geno, and skirk at spam meetup. Add me up though hopefully Ill get better... maybe.
Can always rent a pro controller and see how you like it (Target for electronics has 30 day no questions asked return policy. If you don't like it just bring it back within a month and get a refund)
Did some For Glory this morning and mostly ran into Japanese players. Seemed a lot of the good ones were on because I was getting wrecked unless I used zoned characters. The ones I was playing had the reflexes of the gods and their spacing game was so good that I got punished for everything I did that was unsafe. Couldn't take any risks. No gimmicks, just straight up outplayed. Wasn't even upset either. Just wish most of them didn't leave as soon as they won/loss so I could train against that.
The JP names tend to be quite difficult. Some may stay others may just jump ship after a win. Haven't seen them much on Wii U myself compared to 3DS.
I love JP players. I need to play earlier in the morning when they're around.
Nairo's now my favorite ZSS player, holy shit he's on point w/ that character.
2 GC controllers and the adapter for $80. I don't think it's a discount, but if you need the adapter, it's an option.

Yep, GameStop trying to move the controllers by holding onto their adapter stock for a long, long time. Smart for the company--terrible for the consumer.
They have a adapter + controller x2 deal for $80 up now also.
I think I'm gonna wait it out for the adapter only though. Don't need more controllers or the game.
