Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U may release in northern spring 2014, according to a reported comment from Nintendo Germany general manager Bernd Fakesch.

Although it had already announced this window for Mario Kart 8, this is the first time a Nintendo representative has put a date to Super Smash Bros. Unfortunately, the company did not confirmed the date when asked for comment, saying it has nothing to announce right now.

Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U’s possible release in northern spring 2014, has been called a “misquotation” by Nintendo.

The release window was purportedly dropped during an interview with Nintendo Germany general manager Bernd Fakesch.

“There seems to be some buzz online today about the launch date of Super Smash Bros,” a Nintendo representative said in a statement provided to VG247. “We would like to clarify that the speculation about a Spring 2014 launch date for Super Smash Bros. on Wii U was the result of a misquotation in an interview.

“The original article has since been rectified and we have no further announcements to make at this time.”

Marth's Shield Breaker gets boosted, French Bulldog Nintendog assist added

Marth’s Shield Breaker move has seen an upgrade in the new Super Smash Bros., director Masahiro Sakurai revealed alongside the game’s latest batch of screenshots.

Along with the above screenshot, Sakurai posted on Miiverse: “There weren’t a lot of people who used the Shield Breaker to break people’s shields, so we’ve now made it much more powerful. This pic is from immediately after a shield break.”

Sakurai also revealed that the Nintendogs assist trophy in the new game is now a French Bulldog, and that there’s a projectile weapon that looks like a submarine from Steel Diver in the game as well.

I assumed this game would be the reason I would finally buy a WiiU. It's been so disappointing watching the news and developments for this game. The Megaman announcement was pretty cool, but there has been nothing else that has captured my interest at all. This might very well be the first SSB game I do not pick up at launch. I just cannot justify the $350+ price for a single game.

This is what I was thinking, but who knows how it's been balanced now. I know I didn't really use Shield Breaker in Brawl other than for recovery, but I don't know if that means it needs a buff.
