Last time they revealed Sheik and Zelda separately, so that's what I'm hoping for.. I'd also be ok with Sheik being separate, but if they replaced her with a Phantom move, I'll be so sad....
Or an assist trophy, that'd also explain it..
I was kind of expecting Zelda to use a sword since IIRC that's the TP version of her and Link.
Zelda is looking mother fuckin' fabulous.
I cannot wait arghhhh!
Starfy added as an assist
http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/sites/def...bfea2e8fdb.jpghttp://www.examiner.com/article/supe...cameo-revealedMasahiro Sakurai has revealed a returning character cameo for “Super Smash Bros. 4” on the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. According to a report by Mii-Gamer on Dec. 25, the game director confirmed that Starfy will be coming back in the latest installment of the crossover fighting series.
Starfy is one of the more obscure first-party characters from Nintendo. The yellow-colored star is the mascot of five handled platform games. However, the first four titles were not released outside of Japan. It wasn’t until the release of “The Legendary Starfy” for the Nintendo DS in 2009 did western gamers got to see the character in action.
Starfy previously appear as an assist trophy in “Super Smash Bros. Brawl” on the Nintendo Wii. When summoned, he does a low-damage spin attack that temporary locks an opponent into one position. However, he can also explode when attacked, causing big harm to anyone close by.
The mascot will most likely return to the same role in “Super Smash Bros. 4.”
The Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions of “Super Smash Bros. 4,” which are due to launch sometime in 2014, should both feature Starfy.
Director Masahiro Sakurai on the importance of balancehttp://www.siliconera.com/2013/12/30...er-smash-bros/Director Masahiro Sakurai has always placed a great deal of importance on balancing games in the Super Smash Bros. series, and he won’t be making any exceptions for the upcoming Wii U and 3DS game. In this week’s issue of Famitsu, Sakurai talks about the importance of balance in his feature column.
“Now that Sunday’s day off is past, I’m currently working on the character adjustment for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U,” says Sakurai. “At the moment, Bowser is very strong. He’s really strong. Fans of Smash Bros. probably never saw him as too much of a strong character, but this time, his ability to knock others out is very strong!”
Sakurai goes on to mention that Bowser’s Smash attacks, special attacks, and aerial attacks now have quite the ability to send opponents flying through the air, and the best part about this is that it feels great. This great feeling is what he’d like to focus on for the upcoming Smash Bros. game, and is putting more care into that part of the game than ever.
However, having strong attacks are also something that must be carefully balanced, Sakurai says, as it may feel unfair to opponents if they’re too overpowered. So, to meet the right standards, Sakurai and the rest of the development team have been spending a lot of time adjusting stronger attacks to see what works best.
“Doing things like simply ‘lowering the performance’ can make games lose its fun,” says Sakurai. “Additionally, making a strong attack weaker can take away from the ‘good feeling’. By making adjustments that get rid of all advantages and disadvantages, it can turn a game into a mediocre one without any challenge.”
According to Sakurai, this is something you can feel while playing other competitive games. He compares it to the depth of working on an RPG title, where there’s a lot of things that are taken into consideration, such as obstacles and what players need to do in order to clear certain areas. Simply making enemies stronger or weaker doesn’t solve the problem.
“Rather than directly weakening an attack’s advantageous parts, we’re putting effort into keeping them strong, while adding other weaknesses to them,” Sakurai explains. “Like giving the attacks punishable openings, or weakening the character’s mobility or recovery rate. We’re making comprehensive adjustments to characters, even for parts that might seem completely irrelevant.”
Sakurai also talks about the difficulty in adjusting balances for things such as four player free-for-alls and 1-on-1 fights, as their circumstances are completely different. This can’t be helped at times, he says. For example, some attacks such as Captain Falcon’s “Falcon Punch” might work well when there’s more players, but might not ever hit during a 1-on-1 fight.
“The game balance of Super Smash Bros. Brawl started six years before its release, and it most likely goes back even further during its time of development, and it’s never been reformed even through the updates afterwards,” says Sakurai. “We’re at a stage where we’d like to release the new title as soon as possible, and offer something more enjoyable than ever.”

You can actually use the stretchiness of the ropes to do a spring jump. However, you can’t pull on them to launch yourself sideways in a lariat attack though.”

Our 4th confirmed Assist Trophy, Ashley from the WarioWare, Inc. series is making sure her presence is known. She will control all the evil magic to make sure her summoners opponents won’t win. What will she do, we don’t know but hopefully her cute devil friend Red will join her. Does this mean Wario confirmed?
Rosalina is the only Mario newcomer.
Waluigi and Toad were at once considered, but Waluigi remains an Assist Trophy, and Toad a move for Peach.
Bowser Junior, Paper Mario and Daisy were never considered. Bowser Junior was planned to be an Assist Trophy, but was scrapped.
Fawful is a new Mario Assist Trophy. He acts like Mr. Resetti, but will attack opponents at random.
Diddy Kong will be the next revealed veteran, to coincide with Tropical Freeze’s release date.
Diddy is paired with Dixie Kong as a tag-team, similar to Zelda and Sheik. Dixie has a separate moveset from Diddy, but it’s still being worked on.
King K. Rool is a newcomer, the heaviest character on the roster. He is powerful and can KO light characters with 2 good Smash Attacks. His final smash has him use the blunderbuss and fire cannonballs from the top of the screen while they fly in from the sides as well.
Gangplank Galleon is a stage.
There is a new Zelda character, although it’s kept a secret so far. The names heard most often are Tingle and Ghirahim.
Ganondorf will be buffed, although he still retains some of C. Falcon’s moves. He can equip a sword using his Down Special.
Chrom is a Fire Emblem necomer. He wields the Falchion, and does not replace Ike.
Chrom is expected to be revealed to celebrate the anniversary of the first Fire Emblem.
Lyn’s Assist Trophy from Brawl has been scrapped.
King Gangrel and Aversa are the new Fire Emblem Assist Trophy. Gangrel runs around slicing with his sword, while Aversa flies above using Aversa’s Night. They are the “unexpected” Assist Trophy.
No newcomers for Yoshi or Wario.
Wario’s overalls are now his default attire.
The Kat & Ana Assist Trophy has been scrapped.
Ashley from WarioWare is a new Assist Trophy.
Ridley is a newcomer, and is scaled down a bit. It was a major feat on the development team.
No new Star Fox characters.
Falco is farther away from being a Fox clone.
Wolf is no longer a semi-clone.
Villager has a female costume.
Mr. Resetti returns as an Assist Trophy.
Tom Nook is a new Assist Trophy. He apparently drops bells across the stage, which causes opponents to trip. (Due to Sakurai saying tripping is removed, it’s unknown if forced tripping, like this and Diddy’s bananas will return, or if only accidental tripping is removed.)
Palutena is a newcomer, with her moves based directly off Uprising.
Magnus is a new Assist Trophy, and acts similarly to Little Mac in Brawl.
All Pokemon veterans from Brawl return.
Mewtwo returns.
Mewtwo and Lucario have very different movesets.
No new Kirby characters.
Meta Knight will be revealed sometime in the summer of 2014.
No changes made to the EarthBound series.
All misc. characters return (Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B., Ice Climbers)
Little Mac is a newcomer. He has the look from the Punch-Out!! reboot for the Wii.
The Male Wii Fit Trainer is indeed an alt. for Wii Fit Trainer.
Wii Fit Trainer has a butt attack. It is replaced by a headbutt for the male costume.
King Hippo is an Assist Trophy.
The Ghosts from Luigi’s Mansion are an Assist Trophy.
Snake returns.
Pac-Man will be the final newcomer. He is a secret character.
If this leak is true then got damn.
K. Rool would be pretty silly, and I'm interested in the new Ganondorf mechanics. I've been trying to branch out my character selection a bit when I play for fun and Ganondorf has been a new favorite.
Pac-Man... Lame.
This better be real and Tingle better be the secret. Tingle/Villager tag team4lyfe
Finally some shit to care about. Even if fake it's more interesting than 90% of the news we've gotten so far.
lol source?
I am seriously loving this character so much, I hope she's top tier.
